Was laying in bed watching The Daily Show when I got Twitter word of a fatal hit-and-run in the Squirrel Hill section of Southwest Philly last night.
The victim: a 52-year-old woman crossing the street at 48th and Chester. Texted a good guy I know who works in the Southwest Division; he responded that witnesses indicated the vehicle driven by a hit-and run scumbag was either a red Jeep (it wasn’t) or a grey Chevy Tahoe (it wasn’t, not exactly). However, a silver Chevy Trailblazer was recovered without a driver a half-mile north at 47th and Larchwood, by an officer who followed a trail of antifreeze.
“The scene,” he texted just before 11:30 p.m., “is fucking awful.”
The picture that Action News posted to its Facebook page of a vehicle with NY tags supports that.
RIP, hit-and-run victim.
