As previously reported, Louden and I regularly pass the Rocky Statue on our way to Center City from the Falls.
It often enters into our in-car discussions. Well, he happened to watch some of Rocky II with me a while back. And, he happened to recently ask why there wasn’t a statue for the man Balboa was fighting at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, too.
This is a good question (though not as good as why on earth did Philly wait until Joe Frazier was gone before honoring him in similar fashion), so I took it to none other than Carl Weathers on Twitter. Here was his response:
Suffice it to say, the lad was very pleased this morning when I shared Carl’s advice with him. In fact, he looked over at Rocky and smiled, letting his imagination wander as empowered to do by The Count of Monte Fisto.
