The Barcelona/Real Madrid rivalry has just about devolved into futbol’s version of Bloods-Crips territory. The last match was particularly chippy, what with Real’s Marcelo scissor tripping Cesc Fabregas and coach Jose Mourinho poking a Barca assistant in the damn eye, with one particular segment in bold.
The bitterness came up at a meeting between Barca’s president and supporters. Here’s an excerpt from the L.A. Times story about it:
“We have decided not to (make an official complaint against Mourinho)” Barca president Sandro Rosell Monday told a meeting of supporters groups, who had called for the club to act. “The public have give their opinion. They are very clear that what this person did wasn’t right. The (Spanish football) federation will act if they want to.
“We have to act sensibly, reduce the levels of tension and try not to stir it up or we’ll end up killing each other in the street. The problem isn’t ours, it is theirs.”
As a Barca fan, I was drooling for Real blood last week. So, it’s probably a good move to try and calm everything down. Even if it won’t. Because Mourinho’s a fucking arrogant prick who thinks he can’t be touched.
