Police are presenting murder and assault charges against a Lubbock teen in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed 44-year-old Sonia Loera and injured several others on Sept. 25 near Club Pink in North Lubbock.
On Friday, police said, a 14-year-old male was arrested after a two-month investigation. Police are presenting the charges to the Lubbock County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.

It’s there to remind motorists to slow down and use caution, but its warning didn’t stop the well-known police officer statue in the Carmel Arts & Design District from being the victim of a hit and run accident Nov. 26.
Police said a driver heading eastbound on Main St. struck the statue at 4:09 a.m. and fled the scene. With the help of a witness, police tracked the vehicle and found it parked in the Sophia Square parking garage.

Unfortunately, hit and run numbers in Indianapolis have increased significantly the last couple of years. Property damage collisions have gone from 3,765 in 2014, to 4,427 in 2015 to 5,502 so far this year. Hit-and-run incidents resulting in injury have also spiked from 378 in 2014, to 450 in 2015 and 587 so far in 2016.
While fatal crashes have also gone up from nine in 2014 this year’s total of 15 is actually slightly less than the 17 in 2015.
“It’s kind of frustrating to see these numbers come in,” said Heustis.

Donteiz Romond Dickey, 22, is in custody. Police said he struck Joy White, 27, and her 3-year-old daughter, Khloe Pitts.
Dickey faces two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and two counts of failing to stop after an accident.

Victor Estrada Luna, 70, was in a wheelchair and crossing at East California Avenue and Baker Street when he was hit by a vehicle. That was early October.
Thursday, police released surveillance photos of the vehicle involved in the collision. The pickup should have moderate damage to the passenger side.

A Springfield man has filed a $3.9 million, wrongful death lawsuit against a local tavern and a woman who struck and killed his father two years ago in a bizarre hit-and-run case.

A suspected hit-and-run driver in the killing of a bicyclist on the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles has been arrested in Glendale a short time after the deadly crash , police said.
Despite the death driver’s efforts to get away, a witness followed the fleeing driver long enough to record the vehicle’s license plate number and report it to authorities.

A Swansboro man is accused of leaving the scene of a crash with the hood of his car blocking his view of the road while traveling with a minor.

PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI)- It’s been eight years and a family is still searching for answers, after a local woman was killed by a hit and run driver. Family and friends held a vigil Friday night for 41-year-old Gina Isom. She was struck and killed by a driver as she was crossing the street on Atwells Avenue and Cutler Avenue in the capital city back in 2009.
Now, loved ones continue to search for closure. That driver never came forward, bringing constant suffering for the Isom family. Gina’s father says “I lost my baby and I wish he would turn himself in.”
