SOMERVILLE — The vehicle police are seeking in the hit-and-run death of former Somerville firefighter George Kavanaugh may belong to another firefighter, authorities said.
The vehicle is a 2012-2014 dark-colored Honda CR-V or a 2015 Volvo XC-60, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. The vehicle’s owner may be associated with a local fire department, authorities said.

Alvaro Canseco-Hernandez told police he drank 14 to 17 beers before driving and hitting Anthony P. Orosco, 59, of Milwaukee in the 2600 block of S. 13th St., the criminal complaint says.

A jury found a Wayne County man guilty Wednesday of killing his teenage cousin while driving drunk last year, then fleeing.
After a three-day trial and a deliberation of about 2½ hours, jurors found Jason Day, 33, of Buckingham Twp., guilty of all charges: homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and accidents involving death, both felonies, and driving under the influence.
A 10-year-old boy told state police he and Zachary Possemato, 19, were walking back to the New York state line on Route 191 near the Hancock Bridge in Buckingham Twp. when a truck hit Mr. Possemato and sped away.
A coroner pronounced Mr. Possemato, Mr. Day’s cousin, dead at the scene.

A Baldwin man received a maximum sentence Wednesday for fatally hitting a pedestrian in Port Washington and fleeing the scene while driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Cosmin Florea, 34, was sentenced to 2-1/3 to seven years in prison for hitting a Lynbrook man and leaving him in the street on the night of Aug. 15, 2014, according to the Office of the District Attorney of Nassau County.
