An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

6138. Galloway Twp., NJ. Jan. 9. 52-year-old woman fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

6139. Austin, Texas. Jan. 10. Man in his 30s fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

6140-41. Las Vegas, Nev. Jan. 9. Woman in her 30s and 7ish-yo child injured when struck by a white Chevy which fled the scene.

6142. Indianapolis, Ind. Jan. 10. 57-year-old man fatally struck by a red, maroon or burgundy 2004 to 2007 Chevrolet Malibu which fled the scene.

6143. Claymont, Del. Jan. 12. 69-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

6144. Birmingham, Ala. Jan. 9. 13-year-old boy injured whenstruck by a burgundy Chevy Impala which fled the scene.

6145. St. Albans, WV. Jan. 11. 49-year-old woman fatally struck by a vehicle which fled the scene, later found.

6146. Morton Grove, Ill. Jan. 12. 86-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

6147. Wyandanch, NY. Jan. 12. 48-year-old woman fatally struck by a vehicle which fled the scene.

6148. Oakwood, Ga. Jan. 13. Man in his 30s on bicycle badly injured when struck by a late-model Chevy Malibu which fled the scene.

6149. Potsdam, NY. Jan. 5. 34-year-old man on bicycle injured when struck by a 2002-2005 Pontiac Grand Am which fled the scene.

And I quote (I)…

LANCASTER – “How do we know that as a family we got a fair shake?” Debbie Jones asked about her 24-year-old nephew’s death after he was hit and killed while walking along Lithopolis Road in November 2013.

It took 947 minutes for the Ohio Highway Patrol to investigate the pedestrian crash that killed Josh Barnes and label it “solved.”

CENTENNIAL — The Aurora fire chief’s wife on Friday pleaded guilty to vehicular assault in a hit-and-run crash that injured two children.

Adriene Garcia was charged in May with leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury, a felony, and careless driving with injury, a traffic infraction. She is married to Aurora Fire Chief Mike Garcia.

Adriene Garcia cried throughout Friday’s hearing in Arapahoe County Court. She is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 20. Prosecutors are recommending no prison time.

“He should have just stopped last night, he hit that lady really hard,” said witness Chad Logan. “The kid just nailed her, threw her like a rag doll.”

Birmingham police are asking for the public’s help in a December hit-and-run that seriously injured a Homewood woman.

A transient man suspected of killing a longtime Stockton police officer in a hit-and-run last month told detectives he was at a homeless shelter all day and does not remember driving his van.

Since details of the crash were released to the public, the Police Department has received numerous tips that investigators have followed up on. None of the identified vehicles, however, have been the one involved in this collision, Escalante said.
