I don’t have much time to delve into all the reasons me and the bride have taken a shine to this Chrisley Knows Best show.
To hear bride tell it, she thinks Todd Chrisley, the patriarch of this gated outside-of-Atlanta community clan is flat-out endearingly hilarious. The whole family, for that matter.
To my mind, the program is television gold for these two (among many, many reasons):
1) Todd Chrisley is a lunatic control freak, but in a nearly adorable way; I know not what it’s like to have a teenaged daughter, but I reckon that I, too, would want to monitor her every movement down to the attire she wears out. That said, I wouldn’t be as over-the-top warden-y about it, but then again, I’m not filthy rich and in charge of an impeccably-mannered troupe. (Best I could discern, Todd and Julie rose from humble roots via Todd’s real-estate acumen to the point that they drop roughly $300K a year on family attire. You read that right.)
2) If the one-percenters were looking for ideal brand-management and representation, it would be the people in front, and behind, the cameras on this show. Yes, they’re obnoxiously rich, but they’re not obnoxious about it. Like another crew that is so abhorrent, its running-famous male lead was apparently willing to change genders to escape.
It’s wholesome entertainment for our plugged in age.
And, I’ll be posting about the exploits of the Chrisley family as I think it’s almost a Silkwood-shower of wholesome goodness to do so.
Anyway, here are a couple of clips that I was send in advance of tonight’s episode, the show’s third. (10 p.m. USA Network). Do watch.
