3149-50. Brooklyn, NY. Nov. 15. 35-year-old man killed and 24-year-old woman seriously injured when struck by a 2004 Chevy Malibu which fled the scene but was found later in the day. Arrest made.
3151. Cathedral City, Cal. Nov. 13. 14-year-old girl injured when struck by a burgundy or maroon 90’s Toyota 4-door sedan with gray door handles and gray hubcaps which fled the scene.
3152. Fargo, ND. Nov. 15. Man in wheelchair injured when struck by a white GMC Envoy which fled the scene.
3153. Hilton Head Island, SC. Nov. 14. Pedestrian fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
3154-55. Tuscaloosa, Ala. Nov. 16. 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman injured when struck by a red vehicle with tinted windows which fled the scene.
3156. Baxter, Minn. Nov. 14. 51-year-old man injured struck by a Chrysler Sebring which fled the scene.
3157. Fort Smith, Ark. Nov. 16. 66-year-old man injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
3158. Brunswick, Md. Nov. 15. Teenaged boy injured when struck by a green Honda which fled the scene.

A former Delaware County assistant district attorney accused in the hit-and-run crash that left a Haverford teen seriously injured has been acquitted of the most serious charges.
Visiting Judge John Braxton granted a defense motion to drop the aggravated-assault and driving-under-the-influence charges.
Michael Donohue, 32, is still on trial for simple assault, leaving the scene, and other minor charges.
Jake Vantrieste, now 15, suffered a broken leg and pelvis and had bleeding on his brain as a result of the November 2011 incident. He was hospitalized and missed three months of school.
Prosecutor Joseph McGettigan contended that Donohue was out drinking with coworkers the night of the crash and was impaired. Donohue was on his cellphone when his Jeep Cherokee allegedly struck Vantrieste at 10:23 p.m., he said.

Though an article in The State newspaper (Columbia, SC) early this month was headlined, “Columbia slaying, hit-and-run may be linked,” a spokeswoman for the police department there told me this week that, “We hoped that a car used in a homicide on the same night as the Bires incident was linked to her case, but there is no forensic evidence at this time.”

On Wednesday morning, a man who authorities identified as Khuong Pham, 44, came to the front counter of the Westminster Police Department and told police that he was the driver who had fled the accident scene, Westminster police Sgt. Cameron Knauerhaze said.
Traffic investigators interviewed Pham, who led them to his vehicle. The Toyota Rav4 was parked at Pham’s Westminster home, minutes from the accident scene, Knauerhaze said.

Timothy Dilanzo, 24, of the 3400 block of Blair Mill Road [in Horsham, Pa.], attempted to cut through the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store on North York Road at East Moreland Avenue in Hatboro about 6:57 a.m. to avoid waiting for a traffic light at the intersection, according to police.
His 2006 Nissan Sentra slammed into Elizabeth Gannon, 34, of Lansdale, who was walking through the parking lot, police said. She landed on the hood and was thrown to the ground, according to police. Dilanzo’s car then struck two occupied vehicles parked in traffic on North York Road while fleeing northbound, police said.

OAK PARK, Mich. (WJBK) — A 22-year-old armed robbery suspect could spend the rest of his life in prison after he was connected to the unsolved hit and run death of an Oak Park woman.
Police say Eric Brown of Royal Oak was charged last month after he robbed a Wixom woman at knifepoint in the Aldi parking lot on the 23000 block of Greenfield.
The victim was able to give police a partial license plate number, a description of Brown’s car and picked him out of a lineup. “It was through the investigation of (the robbery) that we were able to link him to this prior crime,” said Lt. Samantha Kretzschmar.
It was back in April when police say 78-year-old Rita Mazur was struck and killed by a vehicle behind the same Aldi in Oak Park. Police say the vehicle was driven by none other than Brown.
“I hope this person will have time to be alone and think about what he did with his life and other people’s lives and maybe he’ll change for better,” said Rita’s daughter Viktoriya Strumbam.

A West Rogers Park motorist accused in the hit-and-run death of a leader in Chicago’s Tibetan community stopped at the crash scene and asked a witness if he thought the victims would be all right before speeding away minutes later, prosecutors said Thursday.
Fernando Jasso Perez, 23, who lived less than a block from the crash site, has never had a driver’s license, according to Chicago police.
Cook County Judge Donald Panarese Jr. set bond at $750,000 for Perez, who was charged with reckless homicide and failure to report the crash.

“The victim was vaulted off the front of the vehicle in what’s called a ‘roof vault’ because he actually flips on and over the roof of the vehicle,” said Officer Rose Dell, New Haven Police.
The victim is a 17-year-old man. He’s now in a coma at St. Raphael’s with a bad head injury.
“Hit and runs can be very difficult, depending on what kind of physical evidence we have on scene, what kind of witness statements, what kind of video surveillance,” said Officer Dell.

NEWPORT NEWS– A Williamsburg woman has been charged with hit and run and aggravated assault in Newport News.
The incident allegedly took place after an argument escalated early Tuesday morning.
According to police, 31-year-old Crystal Dickerson Prescott, of the 8800 block of Pochontas Trail in Williamsburg, was arguing with 23-year-old Brandie Nicole Roberson at a residence at 508 Adams Drive in Newport News.

A New Hampshire man is expected to be charged today with striking 23-year-old Elyssa Davis of Newburyport with his car and then fleeing the scene.
Newburyport police Inspector Michael Sugrue said Oliver Sheridan, 41, of Raymond, N.H., will be summonsed on one charge of leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.

“He remembers hearing a loud noise and turning around and that’s when all he saw was headlights. From there he felt pain and felt like he was flying in the air forever. From there he only remembers pieces,” she said.

Footage reviewed by Sumter police shows a long, dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a Dodge, stop beside a school bus on East Calhoun Street shortly after 70-year-old Jeanette Harrison was struck and killed in the roadway by an unknown driver on the morning of Oct. 25.
Moments later, an apparent white male in a red T-shirt and blue jeans can be seen standing in the roadway near where emergency medical personnel were attending to Harrison. The individual may or may not have gotten out of the pickup truck seen earlier, but it’s unclear from the available footage.

Detectives Friday released a video that shows the cyclist following in the path of the car leaving that tragic scene on the westbound lanes of Whalley Avenue at 9:30 p.m. on June 4, 2008. (The video’s clock was off by an hour.) The hit-and-run death sparked a citywide outpouring of grief—and helped launch a “Complete Streets”/“Street Smarts” movement in town.

Court documents say the woman who hit and killed a pedestrian while driving in Nipomo was texting when the accident occurred. On Friday, Marie Marguerite Coyner, 23, was charged with two felonies including involuntary manslaughter and hit and run causing death.
