Update: The Daily News has a good piece on it today.
I missed a call-back from police public affairs on Friday.
Catching up (and for context, read the DN story), the incidents were:
1) 2:15 p.m., Thursday, March 7: 10-year-old crossing the 2400 block of Memphis St. (Kensington/Fishtown cusp area) when she was struck by a white GMC SUV with white rims. Driver fled. Victim taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children with a broken leg and facial injuries.
2) 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9: Her 14-year-old sister suffers more serious injuries when struck while crossing Cheltenham Ave. at Torresdale about five miles away in Tacony. Driver of white four-door vehicle stopped a half block away but fled before police arrived. She was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital.
No arrests made in either case yet.
This is just too much. Per 6abc:
The father of a 10-year-old hit-and-run victim, who spoke exclusively to Action News on Saturday, says his other daughter is now a victim, as well.
Jim Givens of Fishtown says his 14-year-old daughter Kylee was struck by a hit-and-run driver around 8:30 p.m. Saturday near Moss Playground, located near the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and East Cheltenham Avenue in Tacony.
Kylee was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus where she is recovering from a ruptured spleen and two broken ribs.
Police do say they are investigating a hit-and-run, but have not released any further information.
