2181. Vacaville, Cal. Dec. 27. 16-year-old boy suffers head trauma, abrasions and pain in his arms and legs when struck, while walking to the library, by a maroon SUV which fled the scene. (Updated: Arrest)

2182. Pomona, Cal. Dec. 28. Bicyclist killed when struck and dragged a half block by a forest green Dodge or Chrysler sport-utility vehicle which fled the scene. (Update: Arrest)

2183. New Albany, Ind. Dec. 28. 24-year-old man killed when struck by a car and a red pickup truck which both fled the scene.

2184. Aspen, Colo. Dec. 27. “Daniel Theme — a celebrity chef who has appeared on various international TV programs over the years — was hit by a westbound white BMW sport utility vehicle” which fled the scene.

2185. Grand Prairie, Texas. Dec. 29. 26-year-old woman injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

2186. Vidor, Texas. Dec. 30. Unidentified pedestrian struck and killed by unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

2187. Baldwin, NY. Dec. 30. 17-year-old male injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

2188. Brooklyn, NY. New Year’s Eve. 34-year-old man heading out for party supplies was fatally run down by a northbound blue Nissan Maxima which fled the scene.

2189. Sumter, SC. New Year’s Eve. 24-year-old man injured when struck by a possible white GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck which fled.

2190. Raleigh, NC. Jan. 1. 32-year-old woman struck and killed by a dark-colored, mid-size pickup truck which took off.

2191. Mobile, Ala. Jan. 1. 55-year-old male suffers life-threatening injuries when struck by a blue Dodge pickup which took off.

2192. Houston. Jan. 1. 32-year-old man killed when struck by a black Cadillac Escalade which took off.

2193. Lake Elsinore, Cal. Jan. 1. Man riding a skateboard suffered fatal head injuries when struck by a Honda sedan which fled the scene.

2194. Sacramento, Cal. New Year’s Eve. 15-year-old girl walking with friend injured when struck by unidentified vehicle that took off.

A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was charged Thursday with first-degree reckless injury and first-degree recklessly endangering safety on allegations he critically injured Milwaukee police officer Frank Vrtochnick on Christmas evening. If convicted, Juan C. Alvarado is facing up to 37 1/2 years in prison and $125,000 in fines.

Police have arrested a Southern California motorist for driving away after hitting a pedestrian who was run over by a second vehicle and dragged 750 feet. Garden Grove police say 54-year-old Gregory Martin is hospitalized in critical condition. Investigators say 29-year-old Guadalupe Quinonez was driving a Dodge Magnum that hit Martin as he crossed a street Wednesday evening. The driver fled.

Community leaders are banding together to make sure one of Donna Fountain’s dreams didn’t die with her.

The single mom was carrying a list of her life goals when she was killed by a hit-and-run coward Christmas morning. Among them: making sure son Elijah graduated from college.

State Sen. Eric Adams announced the creation of a scholarship fund for the 8-year-old boy on Friday, launched with $25,000 in donations.

“There’s nothing we can do to take back that nightmare,” Adams said of the crash on Eastern Parkway.

“But today we’re going to continue her dream of giving her son an education.”

Adams kicked in $5,000 of his own money; the Hasidic community raised another $15,000; and Korean activists donated $5,000.

A San Francisco man charged with vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run for allegedly killing a man in an accident told police that he drank more than a dozen beers before getting behind the wheel, authorities said.

“I was surprised that someone would run over someone and take off. That’s cruel,” said shopper Gale Satchell. “At least, have some respect to help her out and be courteous and kind.”
Police said they are searching for the driver. A witness said someone wrote down the minivan’s license plates and reported it to authorities.

And I quote (VI)…

Mary Pena Jackson, 55, was driving to church with her grandson last New Year’s Eve when another car hit them and fled the scene.

Jackson was transported to the hospital, where she later died. Her grandson survived with a broken leg.

On Saturday, relatives were keeping her memory alive with a candlelight vigil near the intersection of Ella and Richey. Family members know of only two tips in the case, both of which have not led to any arrests.
