1727. Riverside, Ill. July 20. 30-year-old man riding a bicycle suffers head and other injuries after being struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled.

1728. Schenectady, NY. July 22. 27-year-old woman suffers non life threatening injuries when struck by an older white four-door sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus, driven by a white female with blonde hair in her 30s, which fled the scene.

1729. Ithaca, NY. July 21. Boy in his early teens riding a bicycle struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle that left him for dead in the street.

1730-32. Lake Zurich, Ill. July 22. 18-year-old girl killed and her two teen-aged sisters injured when struck by a newer model white or light-colored SUV which fled the scene. “The 16-year-old girl told her that the teens were about four feet off the road when the SUV came up behind them without its headlights on, Gregory said.”

1733. Durham, NH. July 23. 27-year-old man riding his bike injured when “‘a car went by in the other direction and threw a bottle at his head. And it did him him in the head.’ The injured man will now have to pay out of pocket for his medical bills. Police say they need your help in catching the person or people responsible for this crime that they are calling a hit-and-run. ‘We have no information about what the vehicle looked like or the drivers, passengers, basically, we have no information,’ said Mone.”

1734. Chattanooga, Tenn. July 22. 43-year-old woman suffers head injury and broken arm when struck by a 90’s model green Oldsmobile or Buick which fled the scene.

1735. Grand Forks, ND. July 22. 31-year-old man on bicycle suffers minor injuries when struck by a silver car which fled the scene.

1736. Drumbo, Cal. July 24. 34-year-old man struck and killed by what investigators believe was a Volvo transport truck which fled the scene.

1737. Suffolk County, NY. July 24. 52-year old man struck and killed by a dark-colored Toyota which fled the scene.

Orono police questioned Chester Ruth for 52 minutes before they told him the love of his life was dead.

“It was painful,” Ruth, the longtime boyfriend of the University of Maine student killed by a hit-and-run driver 18 months ago, testified Thursday afternoon. “For the first hour, I was not told anything. They made me go through everything I’d done.

“They asked if I’d had an accident,” he told the jury during direct examination at the trial of the York County man accused in the death of Jordan Bakley, 20, of Camden. “They asked me when I had talked to Jordan. Eventually, they got around to telling me she’d been killed by a hit-and-run driver.”

The family of a Carmel Clay School police officer struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident five years ago is still looking for answers behind his death. Ronald Obsitnick’s family returned to the scene of the accident at 96th and Meridian streets on Wednesday. The driver in the hit-and-run still hasn’t been found.

The agency’s statistics show that from 2000 to 2008, there was on average 32 deadly accidents a year in North Carolina in which the driver hit a pedestrian and drove away.

“I looked up and the car started to slow down and stop, then it took off,” Byers said.

Police say the driver was making a turn at 50th street and Avenue Q and he did not realize his rig clipped the structure.

Officers found the red semi carrying a firetruck with the words “Raging Inferno” on the side at Lubbock Motor Speedway.

The leader of a local civil rights organization offered Sunday to escort a suspect wanted in connection with a hit-and-run accident on an Atlanta police officer.

An 82-year-old pedestrian was killed early Sunday when he was struck by a man driving a Nissan.

Detectives with the LAPD’s Valley Traffic division said Romuald Poghosyan of Van Nuys was walking northbound on Coldwater Canyon near Victory Boulevard in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by Horacio Alvarado, 52, of Sun Valley.

Police said Alvarado did not stop but returned to the location at a later time.
