The Philadelphia Union Beat Everton On a Goal by a 17-Year-Old

In what was a tune-up for Saturday’s friendly against Real Madrid — I’ll be there, and posting about it on here the next day — the Union beat a Tim Howard-less Everton FC (of the EPL) 1-0 last night at PPL Park. The winning goal, which came in the 87th minute, was scored by Christian Hernandez, the recently named U.S. Soccer U-17/18 Development Academy Player of the Year.

“It felt like a dream,” said a jubilant Hernandez, a member of Philadelphia’s academy. “I was running and it felt like I was floating.”
