Alejandro Garcia used to be the boy who would work on his neighbor’s yard, often mowing Helen Green’s lawn. Now he’s charged in the hit-and-run death two years ago of Green’s nephew.
League City police this week obtained a warrant for Garcia. They believe the 19-year-old was driving the car that veered across an oncoming lane on a desolate road and struck Maurice Jones as he walked home from his job at McDonald’s on March 29, 2009. The only evidence was a 20-word note of apology found near the body. A phone tip broke the case this month.
