1683. Los Angeles. July 4. 32-year-old bicyclist stuck and killed by an unidentified vehicle that fled.
1684. Astoria, Wash. July 5. Woman suffers minor injuries when struck by a red Toyota pick-up truck which fled the scene.
1685. Terre Haute, Ind. July 4. Man on bike pulling mower struck and injured by unidentified vehicle which fled.
1686. Rossville, Ga. July 7. 47-year-old man on bicycle struck and killed. “We don’t have a positive ID on any particular model or make,” said Cosper. He and other officers are hopeful that members of the public in the Rossville and Mission Ridge Road area will be on the lookout for a damaged car and will thus be able to help the Georgia State Patrol find the driver at large.
1687. Denham Springs, La. July 8. 17-year-old injured when he’s struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled.
1688. Sacramento, Cal. July 9. Man suffers non-life-threatening injuries when struck by a late-80s gold Toyota Celica two-door with shiny rims which fled the scene.
1689. San Antonio. July 9. 30-year-old man fighting for his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle which left him for dead on the side of the road.
1690. Brookings, SD. 21-year-old man on bicycle injured when struck by a car “having chrome rims, a newer luxury-style vehicle, like a Lexus or Cadillac” which fled the scene.

A suspect in a May hit-and-run case has been identified as 22-year-old Emily Gail Garner, pictured at right, and police say they are still searching for her.
Police said they responded to a crash on May 28 about 10 p.m. at the intersection of San Felipe Boulevard and McNeil Drive. A woman who was walking across McNeil was struck by an unidentified car, and was taken to Round Rock Hospital with serious injuries.

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — A man who is fighting for custody of a baby abandoned at the Bi-Lo Center spent time in an intensive care unit fighting this week for his life after he was the victim of a hit-and-run. Jason Jones is the biological father of a baby boy that was born in a public restroom at the BI-LO Center during circus performance in February.

The Wilmington Police Department has released a description of the vehicle suspected of a hit and run Saturday that left University of North Carolina Pembroke student Daniel Khan in the hospital with serious head trauma. Using a mirror left at the scene of the collision, police investigators said the car is a light gold Mitsubishi Galant made between 1999 and 2003. Police said the car would have damage to the driver’s side, including the driver’s side mirror.

TROY — A stern judge handed the maximum sentence Wednesday to a city man who admitted striking and killing a 6-year-old with a truck on Memorial Day and driving off. Judge Robert Jacon sentenced an apologetic Roy Sanders to 2-1/3 to 7 years in state prison for the fatal hit-and-run, but not before lecturing the 21-year-old about his conduct and criminal history.
“You destroyed a life, and you destroyed your own life. Sounds like it’s a no-win for everybody,” Jacon said. “You need to think about yourself, sir.”

NORRISTOWN – A 74-year-old New Hanover woman awaiting trial in connection with an alleged hit-and-run crash that killed a 26-year-old female pedestrian will not see her driving privileges restored while she is on a family vacation.
Patricia Maurer, of New Hanover Square Road, at least for the time being, is not permitted to operate a vehicle as a condition of her bail while she awaits trial in the matter, a judge ruled on Thursday.
Montgomery County Judge Garrett D. Page said authorities can return Maurer’s driver’s license, which she previously was required to surrender to authorities, on July 8 but only for the sole purpose of using it for personal identification while she travels on an upcoming family vacation. The judge ordered Maurer to re-surrender her license to authorities on July 19.

Along busy but scenic Route 413 in central Bucks County, a white “ghost” bike marks the spot where New York City bicyclist John Chapman, out for a leisurely ride with his bike club, was killed by a hit-and-run driver over Memorial Day weekend.
With Chapman’s killer still unidentified, the accident has continued to resonate with bicyclists from New York to Bucks County who have contributed about $25,000 for a reward fund. It has also focused renewed attention on the risks that cyclists face, even on country roads.

SPOKANE, Wash. – A Spokane bicycle rider injured June 23 by a hit-and-run driver has died. Family members say Dennis Widener suffered a heart attack Wednesday at a rehabilitation center where he had been recovering from broken ribs and other injuries.

Police say it started when a driver hit a car in Kennewick, then drove across the Blue Bridge and hit another car in Pasco at the Lewis Street exit. The officers who caught up with him say he also hit some rocks and ran off, but didn’t get too far. That’s good news for the two people he reportedly crashed into.
“He spun sideways like this, spun around like this then shot across the road. He was going to try to go on the side of us and probably try to side-pocket us that’s what he was trying down there with other cars. They say they have him in custody so we don’t know we hope so,” said victims of crash.

As a woman fights for her life after being hit by a car in Midtown Manhattan, police officials say they have tracked down the driver. Investigators say the 28-year-old man is apparently the woman’s boyfriend. He was found at Harlem Hospital after getting into a one-car accident with his Honda Pilot on the Harlem River Drive.
