Hit-and-Run America, Vol. MMXCII

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 16098. Police are investigating after a person died following a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning in southeast Oklahoma City.

16099. ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – One person is dead after a hit-and-run in Anchorage, according to the Anchorage Police Department (APD).

16100. Detroit police say a 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle Saturday night on the city’s west side.

16101. A 59-year-old man was critically injured Saturday when a Dodge pickup truck struck him while he was riding a bicycle on West 21st Street in the Lower West Side.

16102. DENVER — One person is dead after a crash between a driver and a pedestrian near Sloan’s Lake in Denver Saturday night.

16103. A woman was killed in a hit-and-run Friday morning in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

16104. WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle early Friday morning.

16105. A Los Angeles Police Department vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian in Highland Park while on duty Friday night, authorities said.

16106. AUSTIN, Texas — Police are searching for a driver who hit and killed a person in North Austin early Monday morning.

16107. A wrong-way driver on I-5 who took off from a crash Friday night, was killed several hours later when he was hit by an SUV. Police say the man was struck and killed on the southbound off-ramp to North 175th, nearly eleven hours after he had hit a Washington State Department of Transportation vehicle in that same area.

16108. MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The vehicle thought to have been involved in a Madisonville pedestrian hit-and-run earlier in the month is headed to Knoxville’s Tennessee Bureau of Investigation crime lab, according to the Madisonville Police Department. It marks the latest update in the investigation into the death of 43-year-old Larylee Holtzclaw.

16109. “It really disgusted me, very upset and angry,” said Ja’yeir’s stepfather, Nehemiah Daniel. “It’s just sad to see that somebody can hit a child and just drive away, and just keep it moving.”

16110. SPRINGFIELD — A 15-year-old was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Springfield on Sunday.

16111. BETHEL, Conn. (WFSB) – The Bethel Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run incident that left one man seriously injured Monday night on Nashville Road.

16112. An Illinois driver remains at large after fatally striking a pregnant woman while she was crossing the street, according to the Waukegan Police Department.

16113. A Long Beach hit-and-run is now a death investigation after a pedestrian who was hit by a car last month died from his injuries.

16114. “All I heard was a smack,” he said. “Next thing I knew, she’s rolling down the street. They hit my baby so hard. I was trying to yell to get people to call 911, and someone stopped, and they did.”

16115. A woman was hospitalized after an SUV went over the curb and hit her while she was in the front yard of a Roy home.

16117. BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield police are asking the community to help identify the driver of a silver coupe who was allegedly involved in a hit and run crash last week. Police said on Sept. 15, a silver two-door coupe, that officials think could be a Honda Civic, fatally struck a pedestrian.

16118. A female pedestrian was critically injured Tuesday night when a hit-and-run driver struck her in Wheaton, police said.
