Carl Jacob Broussard, 54, is charged with two counts of failure to stop and render aid, the official charge for hit and run, District Attorney John Kimbrough said. The second-degree felony is punishable by two to 20 years in prison.
Ava Lewis, 25, and her 6-year-old daughter LaMya Newhouse, a kindergarten student at West Orange-Stark Elementary, tried to cross MacArthur Drive on foot when they were struck by a car allegedly driven by Broussard at about 8 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2015.
Both Lewis and her daughter were killed in the crash.

Marvin D. Anthony, 18, was charged with two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle in the deaths of the boy, Taeshawn Griffin, and Danielle Laverne Triggs, according to a criminal complaint.

The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, died at the scene, Whorton said. The name of the victim has not been released.
