A witness says she saw a man attacking a woman in the middle of Seaview Avenue and called 911. She says she saw the woman get in the car with a friend and take off. Before that, though, the witness recalls seeing the vehicle knock down the alleged male assailant, go into reverse and get onto the highway.
A Grand Junction man whose driver’s license was revoked earlier this year for a drunken-driving offense was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly struck an 83-year-old pedestrian at Grand Junction Regional Airport and fled the scene — all while under the influence of alcohol.

A woman who fled the scene after crashing into a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle climbed into her own backseat to pose as a passenger — while the vehicle was still moving, authorities say. But 25-year-old Amber Lovell’s seat-switching ruse wasn’t clever enough to fool the deputy, who immediately identified her as the driver of the vehicle, a Sheriff’s Office arrest report said.

An Omaha man accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run reportedly told Omaha police that his vehicle was stolen the night of the accident.
On Monday, Tracy Peniska, 44, turned himself in at the Pottawattamie County Jail after warrants were filed accusing him of leaving the scene of a fatality accident, a Class D felony, and obstructing prosecution, an aggravated misdemeanor. On Tuesday morning, Peniska was officially charged with both counts.

CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. (WSVN) – Police are investigating after, they said, the Coral Springs restaurant that served the underage driver convicted in a fatal 2013 hit-and-run was busted for serving alcohol to a teen.

A Texas funeral director posted a heart-wrenching open letter on Facebook to the person who fatally injured a three-year-old boy in a hit-and-run accident in Austin on Sunday afternoon.
Robert Falcon said he posted several photos of the child on Wednesday, including one of the boy in a small white casket, to encourage the hit-and-run driver to step forward and claim responsibility for taking the child’s life.
“I want you to see these pictures and I want you to know how much it pains me to know that you would run over a child and not stop to render aid,” Falcon wrote. “I had to listen to a mother and father cry and bargain with God today because you took their son from them.”
