6004. Pembroke Pines, Fla. Dec. 12. Man in his 50s fatally struck by a 2006-09 Ford Fusion which fled the scene.
6005. San Francisco, Cal. Dec. 12. Woman in her 60s suffers life-threatening injuries when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
6006. Rahway, NJ. Dec. 12. Man fatally struck by a green Altima which fled the scene.
6007. Lexington, Ky. Dec. 13. Man injured when leg run over by a pickup truck which fled the scene.

WNYC’s Mean Streets project has been tracking every fatal street crash this year as part of our effort to track Mayor Bill de Blasio’s stated goal of reducing traffic deaths to zero by 2024.
But we almost didn’t learn of Douglas Matrullo’s death.
The NYPD’s stated policy is to notify reporters of every death from a traffic crash in the city, usually by email. But we never received an email about Matrullo. Instead, we found out about his death by digging into a list of traffic crashes buried on the NYPD’s website. (H/T Matt Katz)

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A driver hit a pedestrian and drove for a mile and half with the victim on top of the car, Springfield Police said.
The victim later died at the hospital.

Eight-year-old Apollo Brown, Jr. and 14-year-old Kelv’ron Florence are fighting for their lives after being hit by the driver, who immediately fled the scene at around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening. Brown and Florence crossed South Bryan Street at Sterling Road in Dania Beach when a metallic gray, two-door Toyota Tacoma hit the brothers before they could make it home to their mother.

McKeesport police have arrested a man in connection with a weekend hit-and-run that seriously injured an 82-year-old woman.
Justin Joseph Warman, 26, of McKeesport was arrested Thursday at about 3 p.m. when police saw him driving a Chevy Prizm fitting the description of the vehicle spotted near the crash scene.

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth police said Friday they have issued an arrest warrant for the driver of the vehicle allegedly involved in an Oct. 25 hit-and-run that left a 14-year-old town boy with brain damage.
