SAVANNAH, GA – A Savannah community is shining the light on an unsolved hit and run that killed Jermaine Butler, 42, earlier this month. Friends and family of Butler gathered Saturday night to honor the memory of their lost loved one, but also to bring awareness to the unsolved hit and run that took his life. They hope someone will come forward with information.
“Though we’ve gone through the process of burying him, there’s no closure for us. We’re still grieving very, very badly,” says Butler’s mother, Willie Jefferson.
Jefferson finds its troubling that the driver who hit and killed her son is still out there, and unknown.

Chicago police said today that a man was charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident Thursday in Bridgeport that left a bicyclist dead.
Suai Xie, 59, was riding her bicycle in the 2900 block of South Poplar Avenue when a vehicle struck her about 5:30 p.m. Thursday and continued traveling east.
Xie, of the 400 block of West 28th Place, was pronounced dead at 6:08 p.m., a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Gabriel Herrera, 65, was charged with one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident that led to a death and one misdemeanor count of failing to render aid. He was also cited for failing to reduce speed.

ELLIJAY, Ga. — The mother of a toddler who was killed in a hit-and-run over the weekend is speaking out.
The Gilmer County coroner confirmed that 18-month-old Noah Pinson, died on Sunday at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Scottish Rite.
“I’m hurt. I’m just mad. Jordan’s taken away from me something I can never get back,” Noah’s mother, Heather Pinson told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh.
Investigators said the incident happened around 9 p.m. Friday at the Gilmer County River Park parking lot. According to the boy’s father, he was taking his toddler out of a stroller and into his van when a Ford Fusion drove quickly past, striking the boy.
“He heard the tires squealing and heard a big bump,” Pinson said.
The father reportedly picked up the child and took him immediately to the hospital. Noah’s parents were by his side when he died.
“[I told him] that I loved him, that he didn’t know how much he meant to me,” said Pinson of Noah’s final moments.

RESEDA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said they arrested an alleged hit-and-run driver who broke both legs of a 15-year-old skateboarder.
The hit occurred shortly after midnight in Reseda, authorities said.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl was in the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Lindley Avenue when she was struck, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

EL PASO, Texas – A 63-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle in a northeast El Paso hit-and-run accident late last month died Monday from his injuries, police said.

“He could have called 911. There was a hospital within two miles — less than two miles — from the accident. It’s a crime what he did. He left. There’s no reason for it. He did it and he has to live with that,” said the victim’s sister, Norma Thomas.
