Back in Feb. 2010, I brought you the story of Harold Lawrence and Joshua Brantner’s 460-mile trek from Florida to North Carolina on a mission to raise awareness about the often-debilitating results of traumatic brain injuries, one of which I suffered myself a little over a year before that post.
Joshua suffered one himself; Harold is the stepfather who accompanied him on that quest.
Just this week, they reached out to let me know about their current “Run B4 U Walk” campaign, in which they “participate in community level runs and our ultimate goal is to bring our message to communities all across the United States.”
That mission has been hindered, Harold tells me, by their “old and unreliable handicapped accessible van.”
Well, lo and behold, they learned of a “Local Heroes” contest in which the top three vote getters in an online poll will win a fully loaded 2013 van from the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association.
