An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

3446. Baton Rouge, La. Feb. 11. 19-year-old man fatally struck by a mid-1980’s model Ford F-150 pickup which fled the scene.

3447. Bensalem, Pa. Feb. 12. 71-year-old man fatally struck by a vehicle which fled the scene; driver later surrendered to authorities.

3448. Centerville, Iowa. Feb. 10. 21-year-old man injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

3449. Bellefonte, Pa. Feb. 12. 32-year-old woman fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

3450-52. Southington, Ct. Feb. 12. 23-year-old woman critically injured and two others hurt when struck by an SUV which fled the scene.

3451. Great Falls, Montana. Feb. 13. 23-year-old man critically injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

3452. Chicago, Ill. Feb. 12. 21-year-old man hurt when struck by a vehicle which fled the scene but the driver was later found.

Tuscaloosa police say they have arrested and charged a woman in a November 2012 hit and run.

Police say that Stormie Lane Henderson, 22, hit two pedestrians at 12th Street and 10th Avenue in Tuscaloosa around 2:10 a.m. Nov. 16, 2012.

The pedestrians were treated at DCH for non life-threatening injuries. The case was presented to a grand jury, which issues a felony warrant for the hit and run. Henderson was arrested Feb. 11.

Henderson, who is a fourth runner-up in the Miss Alabama USA pageant, has been charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. She is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

And I quote (II)…

The family of a bicyclist killed in Point Breeze last year said the prison sentence the driver negotiated for himself Tuesday was too lenient, but they are relieved they won’t revisit the horrors of that July day in yet another courtroom.

“I thought it should be more, too, because he killed my son,” said James Price Jr.’s mother, Glenice. “He’ll still be there. My son is gone.”

Jeffrey M. McClure Jr., 29, of Pitcairn was sentenced to up to five years in prison in the July 25 hit-and-run death.

And I quote (III)…

An 82-year-old man was charged with hit-and-run after striking a bicyclist in the 2300 block of E. Washington St. on Monday.

Abraham Mitchell was driving a 2007 Cadillac sedan when he struck Keith Henderson, who was riding a bike west on East Washington Street, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.

And I quote (IV)…

A Blue Bell woman has been charged for allegedly striking five pedestrians with her vehicle while driving under the influence during the weekend’s snowfall.

Heather Anne Dowdy, 36, of the unit block of Ramsgate Court, Blue Bell, faces charges of driving under the influence, aggravated assault by a vehicle while driving under the influence and numerous other vehicle code violations stemming from the Feb. 9 incident, according to Whitemarsh police.

And I quote (V)…

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – The world hasn’t stopped In the nearly 10 years that have passed since Rebecca Nelson was fatally struck by a vehicle in a Maple Grove parking lot. Her children have grown up, graduating from high school, and college.

The one thing that hasn’t changed; the case involving her hit-and-run death the night of February 20, 2003, remains unsolved.

And I quote (VI)…

A 31-year-old Flagstaff woman was arrested on Saturday after she ran through a crowd of people who were protesting snowmaking on the San Francisco Peaks, ripping through a banner and knocking the drums out of two boys’ hands.

And I quote (VII)…

Carlos Bertonatti, the Key Biscayne man accused of killing a cyclist in a drunk-driving hit-and-run crash, will plead guilty.

The 32-year-old one-time aspiring musician told a Miami-Dade judge on Tuesday that he plans to plead guilty for the January 2010 wreck that claimed the life of Christophe LeCanne.

Bertonatti faces a minimum of 11.56 years in prison, and a max of up to 35 years behind bars.

And I quote (VIII)…

PROSPECT — Community members, friends and town officials Tuesday remembered the local woman who was killed in a hit-and-run accident during the winter storm Friday as honest, meticulous and loving.

Mary McCormack, who celebrated her 79th birthday the day before the historic blizzard hit, was snowplowing her driveway at 7 Straitsville Road when she was hit by an unidentified vehicle about 8 p.m., police said.

And I quote (IX)…

LAKEWOOD — The driver of a light-colored, older model Chevrolet Astro van with front-end damage is sought by police in connection with the hit and run of a township man Saturday night.

The van has damage to its front passenger side, and is missing its grille with the Chevrolet insignia in the middle as well as some of its wheel-well molding, Officer David Silberstein said.

The driver of the van hit Moshe Guttman, 24, around 10 p.m. Saturday in front of Lakewood High School and drove away, Silberstein said.
