Sharon Rearick emailed me today to draw my attention to a petition drive she launched in the wake of her son John’s tragic hit-and-run death just outside of Philly in Middletown Twp., Bucks County in July.

Fortunately, the hit-and-run dirtbag driver has been caught (courtesy of video evidence, if I remember correctly).

Unfortunately, New Falls Road still presents hazards for pedestrians who are forced to walk on the roadway, like 23-year-old John Rearick was.

This is why Rearick launched the “Sidewalks for New Falls Road, Honoring John Rearick by Making a Difference” petition on Change.org.

It’s an effort to have sidewalks in areas where pedestrians are forced to walk in the street. This resonates because I was in a similar setting when I was hit-and-ran.

Don’t go and sign it because I’m asking you to. Go and sign it because Sharon is:

In July of 2012, my twenty-three years old son, John J. Rearick, was by hit by a vehicle on New Falls Road. It was a hit and run, he was taken to the hospital and six days later he passed due to the complications related to the violent accident.

My family was there every day at the hospital. We all hoped and prayed that John may come out of this terrible ordeal. It had felt as though we had cried for six years instead of the days.

The loss that we had was a horrible, to have a family member die in the prime of his life.

To watch them go through the days of life support for the head trauma he suffered due to this accident. A man so young, just starting his journey, who was trying to make a difference in his own life and the ones around him. I know that many other people died on this road. And their sadness, unfortunately, I can say, I now feel. I wish that no one to feel it.

I want my son death to make a difference for his community.

Again, the petition can be found via this link.

I need your help with this effort. It has been brought to my attention that the townships do not have the money to fund the sidewalk project so i am asking for community support in DONATING TIME AND OR MATERIALS. Please ANY AND ALL CONCRETE CONTRACTORS that would be ABLE AND WILLING to donate time and or materials to make this a reality. Get in touch with me 267-261-3147 (this is my phone I use as a contact phone for my zumba classes, so0 when you get a zumba message you are not dialing wrong I would also be willing to have fundraisers and SELLING BLOCKS OF CONCRETE new goal is to work on getting concrete contractors do donate their time and or materials to get the side walks done. I do not want the township to have any reason to NOT keep this community safe. Please post that we are looking for contractor help. Silence the townships refusal because of money before it starts.
