2401. Watsonville, Cal. March 23. Woman injured when struck by a four-door, gray or silver compact car which fled the scene.
2402. Long Beach, Cal. March 24. 24-year-old man fatally, and intentionally, struck by a green Dodge pickup; driver fled the scene.
2403. Lexington, Ky. March 24. Man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2404. North Bergen, NJ. March 23. 42-year-old man suffered severe head trauma and multiple injures after being hit by a dark Toyota which fled.
2405. Atlanta, Ga. March 26. Woman injured when struck by a vehicle in which a dead body was later found by police.

2406. San Antonio, Texas. March 25. Unidentified woman struck and killed by unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2407. Sunnyvale, Cal. March 25. 28-year-old woman struck and killed by a light-colored SUV which fled the scene.
2408. Opelika, Ala. March 25. 32-year-old man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

An officer found Vanderhoff’s vehicle in the parking lot at Highland Liquors. Vanderhoff was passed out behind the wheel of the vehicle, police said.

The man, who is a Dominos Pizza employee, was riding a motor scooter eastbound on Montezuma Road when the driver of a Ford pickup truck heading west made a left turn onto 63rd Street. The truck hit the scooter from behind and the driver kept going, police said.

It started as a hit and run accident, and turned into a bizarre Only-in-Miami experience, after a man who was struck by a taxi started attacking Good Samaritans who tried to come to his aid after the taxi driver fled.
Miami police were called after the man, who has not yet been named, was hit by a yellow cab that apparently had passengers. Calls to 911 brought officers, but by the time they arrived the cab was gone, and the victim was riled up.
Miami police spokesperson Kenia Reyes said several Miami officers tried to help the man, who was bloody and half naked. Reyes said the man argued with the officers, and started battling with them.
Cops had to subdue the accident victim, but in the process, 10 Miami officers were exposed to blood, which is a potentially dangerous situation.

A horrific scene played out on the Southwest Side Saturday evening after a hit-and-run driver fled one accident only to plow into a second car, killing a toddler and a 6-year-old inside.
In the wake of the 6:30 p.m. crash near 45th and Western, a witness described watching a distraught woman run from victim to victim, trying to help a 19-month-old child still strapped into a car seat lying on the street, the 6-year-old in the back seat of her demolished car and a gasping, bleeding man slumped over the wheel.
“My baby! My baby!” the woman screamed, according to the witness, who asked not to be identified. He said the woman appeared to the mother of the dead children. The family was in the car that was hit by the hit-and-run driver.
“It was crazy, she was going crazy,” the witness said.
The woman pleaded with the man in the driver’s seat of her car: “Babe, wake up! Babe, wake up!”

Had he not run from the scene of a fatal crash and then enlisted friends to cover it up, a St. Augustine man likely wouldn’t be where he is now: serving an 11-year prison sentence.
Derek Lee Mrasak,21, of St. Augustine has pleaded no contest to hitting and killing Brian Robert Stevenot, 33, in 2010 then leaving the scene and getting friends to help him wash the truck and dismantle it into parts to sell on Craigslist.

Police say a man is in custody after he allegedly barricaded himself inside a Prince George’s County apartment following a hit-and-run accident Saturday morning.

The man who helped police track down a hit and run driver on Milwaukee’s east side is speaking out for the first time.
Jason Becker was driving down N. Farwell Ave., when he saw the unthinkable — Mai Kaw Xiong getting hit by a speeding car, and the driver racing from the scene. Becker went after that driver and was able to give police information that helped lead to an arrest.
“I heard a loud smack and I noticed that someone had been launched into the air,” said Becker.

Tammy Roberts can’t wait to return to her nursing home job encouraging people in wheelchairs and walkers. But now she must rely on the same caring spirit and her boyfriend Pete Gearhart’s love to walk again.
Roberts was struck by a hit-and-run driver’s car mere blocks from her home on Feb. 3. Freddie Knight, 39, of the 300 block of Grant St., Wilmerding, is facing charges in the case.

CORPUS CHRISTI — Rudy Garcia was carting groceries home on his bicycle Feb. 16 when he was struck and killed by a pickup just blocks from his house.
A 38-year-old motorist fled the scene, sparking a monthlong investigation by police that culminated with an arrest Friday.
Police investigators reflected on the arrest during a news conference Monday and made a plea to the motorist involved in the year’s other unsolved hit-and-run fatality.
“It felt good to get the person we feel is responsible for this man’s death,” said Capt. Jerry Vesely who oversees the police department’s traffic division.

Police say an arrest has been made in a fatal Camden hit-and-run.
Alberto Laguna-Rodriguez was arrested last Friday.
Laguna-Rodriguez is accused of hitting and killing 32-year-old Edwin Cardona back on March 17. It happened around 11 p.m. at Biedeman and River roads in Camden.

Officers with the Thomasville Police Department are seeking tips in a March 2011 accident that left a woman with serious injuries and unable to walk for nearly a year.
“We are still playing the waiting game to see if we will get new intelligence in from somebody,” Sgt. John Elgin with the TPD said of the March 7, 2011, accident.

25-year-old Christopher Michael Keller has been arrested in the death of a tow truck driver on I-80 Sunday. State Police say that Keller had thrown a tarp over his silver, 1991 Honda to hide the damage caused by the fatal collision. But a Forresthill neighbor saw it anyway.

The need for safety enhancements at one of the township’s major intersections became apparent March 11, 2011, when a horrific hit-and-run accident seriously injured four teenagers as they were crossing the street.
One youngster, Anthony Oswald, 15, of Ridley Park, is still undergoing treatment for his injuries.
Tyrone Williams, 53, of Darby, who was driving without a license and ran a red light when he struck the teens, is serving a four- to nine-year sentence in a state correctional institution in western Pennsylvania after pleading guilty last September to myriad of charges in connection with the accident.
