2224. DeKalb Co., Ga. Jan. 14. Man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2225. Owasso, Okla. Jan. 15. 39-year-old man struck and killed by a light gray or silver vehicle which fled the scene.
2226. Ruxton, Md. Jan. 15. 30-year-old state trooper suffers non-life-threatening injuries when struck by a four-door passenger car, possibly gold or tan, which fled the scene.
2227. Phoenix, Ariz. Jan. 14. 31-year-old woman struck by a white, four-door passenger car. “After that car left the scene, a semi-tractor ran over the victim as she was lying in the roadway. She died from her injuries. The driver of the truck, who stayed at the scene, did not appear to be impaired, police said.”
2228-29. Medford, Ore. Jan. 15. “Eden Marks and her boyfriend were riding their long board through an intersection when the two were hit by a car. … The hit and run drivers pick-up is described as a white Toyota or Nissan with a canopy.”
2230. Philadelphia. Jan 15. 29-year-old man suffers critical injuries when struck by a vehicle which fled the scene but the driver was later caught.

State Prison officials tell NewsChannel 15 they’re looking for two inmates who escaped from a work site Sunday morning in Florence County. Officials say Dameon Simpson and Kyle Norris are serving time at Palmer’s Pre-release minimum security prison. The two work the late shift at McCall Farms in Effingham.
They discovered Norris was missing around 9 a.m. Newsome says they aren’t sure if the two inmates are together, but says they may be driving a stolen hunter green-colored 1982 Jeep Cherokee with South Carolina license tag number SC 3306FJ. Officials plan to review surveillance footage from the farm to see if Simpson and Norris left together.
According to the South Carolina Department of Correction’s website, Simpson is serving a five year sentence for a hit and run in Horry County.

Suffolk County police arrested a Northport man on Saturday who they allege was involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a construction worker in Fort Salonga last year.
Police said Fourth Squad detectives arrested John Pappias around 1 p.m. on Saturday and charged with him leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash for the Oct. 28 incident.
Police have been investigating the crash that killed 49-year-old Victor Schultz, of Massapequa Park, who along with a coworker was on Route 25A in Fort Salonga loading a milling machine onto a trailer on the side of the roadway, when he was struck by a vehicle at 1:35 a.m., police said.

Jenna Breen, 21, of Westminster, who was ejected from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 3:30 a.m. accident, said Cheri Spottke, Westminster (Colorado) police spokeswoman.

A 21-year-old Menlo-Atherton High School graduate was arrested by Atherton police Jan. 6 on a federal warrant for allegedly deserting the U.S. Army.
Kevin Viegas came to the attention of Atherton police after they found evidence possibly linking a 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK320 convertible registered in his name to a Jan. 4 hit-and-run accident at James Avenue and Greenoaks Drive, Atherton police Sgt. Sherman Hall wrote in an email to The Daily News.

An SUV owned by Clifford J. Nilan, the probation chief in Berkshire Superior Court, was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Pittsfield last month that injured a jogger, according to police and press reports.
Pittsfield police said Nilan’s 24-year-old daughter, Meredith Nilan, was driving the sport utility vehicle when it struck and injured a jogger on the evening of Dec. 8.
Authorities have issued citations against the woman for negligent operation and leaving the scene of an accident causing injury.
