392. Leesburg, Fla. May 9. Cops door-to-dooring to find the driver that caused a three-vehicle wreck that left an elderly woman dead. Car involved was “white, older model vehicle, dating back to the late 1980s or early 1990s. The driver was a white man with white or gray hair and he may be middle aged or older, according to the witness statements.”
393. Denver, Colo. May 10. Pedestrian injured when struck b a dark grey or turquoise Toyota Highlander.
394. Columbus, Ga. May 13. 21-year-old mother and her infant injured when a police chase leads to a collision with their car. Suspect vehicle abandoned but papers left inside will likely lead to suspects.
395. Chicago. May 13. 19-year-old man killed and four injured when their car was struck by an undescribed hit-and-run suspect vehicle.
396. Chicago. May 12. 89-year-old woman critically injured when struck by a maroon vehicle, possibly a Buick (pictured), which fled the scene.
397. Chicago. May 12. 80-year-old man crossing the street with a cane killed when he’s struck and dragged by “a white or gray vehicle” which fled the scene. (Yes, that’s a Chicago hat trick in one 24 hour span.)

I am surprised, really, that the driver who struck my son and then drove away has not talked or confessed. I cannot imagine the guilt of carrying that secret.
While, early on, I was angry and wanted nothing more than to find the driver and hold him/her accountable, now I am more interested in hearing “why.” I want to ask, “Why did you drive away, leaving my boy, my only son, lying there? How could you?” As a mother, I find that action unfathomable.
The police have always contended that the driver had something to hide, a strong reason to continue driving.
I would like answers, and, yes, in all honesty, accountability.
