On Tuesday night, 28-year-old Samara Banks and her four children (ranging in age from 7 months to 5 years old) were crossing N. 2nd St. at Roosevelt Boulevard — a hectic roadway which cuts through the northeastern part of Philadelphia — when all but one of them (the 5-year-old) was killed when struck by a speeding Audi.
Police now say that that Audi was “observed drag racing with a 1994 Honda” at the time.
Wednesday night, Philadelphia Police announced the drivers’ arrests:
On Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at 10:26 [PM}, a 2012 Audi traveling Southbound on Roosevelt Blvd from Front Street. at a high rate of speed was observed by a witness drag racing with a 1994 Honda. The Audi lost control and struck five people. Samara Selena Banks, a 28 year old female from the 4600 Block of “C” Street along with her four children. Samara and her 23 month old son (name is not being released at this time) were both pronounced on the scene. Saamir Williams, a 7 month old male was pronounced at Einstein Hospital . A four year old male was transported to St. Chris and was pronounced at 4:45 AM today. (His name is not being released at this time). The fourth child, a 5 year old male remains in stable condition at Einstein with bumps and bruises.
Today Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at approximately 8:10 pm, Accident Investigation Division with the assistance of Lancaster City Police Department arrested Khusen Akhmedov 23 year old male from 4XX Queen Street, Lancaster City, PA
A.I.D Officers also arrested 30 year old Ahmen Holloman from 70XX Soulder Street. Akhmedov and Holloman are charged with 4-counts of the following: Homicide by Vehicle, Third Degree Murder, and Involuntary Manslaughter. They are also charged with 5- counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, 1-count of Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Aggravated Assault by Vehicle.
