The Face of a Coward

7386499_448x252 Coward.
Scared little kid.
Entitlement-fueled douchebag.
Take your pick of terminology, but the fact remains this: Nick Hasselback, 22, of just a few blocks away from where I’m typing this right now, left someone for dead in the Ben Franklin Parkway, dumped his car off on Ridge and ran for mommy’s and daddy’s house. Wasn’t far enough. Johnny Law caught up with him today after he lawyered up and surrendered, likely to pull the “Whoa, I wasn’t drinking at 2:30 a.m.” card up his attorney’s sleeve.

Hasselback faces the following charges: Aggravated Assault; Simple Assault; Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries. He surrendered with his lawyer and is still in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

UPDATE: All that said, Daily News, was it really necessary to close today’s article out with the line, “The Daily News was the first to report that Hasselback had been the driver of the vehicle that police towed Monday on suspicion that it had been involved in the hit-and-run.” I say no, it wasn’t. Lives and peace-of-mind are considerably more important than beat-people-to-it-by-an-hour scoops.
