Jeez, I mean I know Bradley Cooper’s looking at the camera and solderer isn’t, but I wasn’t deluded in thinking of that infamous shot of South Vietnamese General Nguyen Ngoc Loan offing a VC prisoner in a Saigon street, was I?

Nobody remembers Nguyễn Văn Lém, the handcuffed prisoner executed in front of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Eddie Adams (and an NBC News camera crew) http://www.nytimes.com/1998/07/16/world/nguyen-ngoc-loan-67-dies-executed-viet-cong-prisoner.html.

No bullshit, General Nguyễn Ngọc Loan moved to Virginia after the war and opened a pizza joint–which he had to close some fifteen years later when the locals finally uncovered his identity.

By the way, Nguyễn Văn Lém was a total dick. Loan isn’t a bastard for executing that piece of shit–he’s an asshole for diverting an RVNP protective detail from the American Embassy to the Presidential Palace during the fall of Saigon.
