An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

1276. Green Bay, Wisc. Jan. 25. 20-year-old man in wheelchair killed after being struck by a white Ford F-150 with an extended cab and matching bed cap, model year from 2004 to 2008. He was in the street because sidewalks had not been cleared of snow.

1277. Chicago. Jan. 26. 57-year-old woman reportedly lost one of her legs after she was struck by a light gray Buick LeSabre while waiting at a bus stop.

1278. Lakeland, Fla. Jan. 26. 29-year-old man on motorcycle killed after being struck by a blue 2003 Ford Focus from which the driver ran. “It’s not your typical hit and run,” said Sgt. Terri Smith, police spokeswoman. “We have the whole car.” The owner is among possible suspects.

1279. Milford, Ct. Jan. 26. Pedestrian suffers non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pickup truck with a plow which sent the unidentified woman 10 to 15 feet into the air before the driver fled. Truck described as a newer model, dark-colored pickup truck with utility boxes on each side of the truck bed and a yellow snow plow attached to the front.

1280. San Diego. Jan. 26. Man in his 20s suffers critical head injuries when he was hit by a woman driving a small car. and then a black full-sized van. That driver briefly stopped and then took off.

1281. Closter, NJ. Jan. 24. 16-year-old boy injured after being struck by a white four-door, possibly a Volkswagen Jetta, which fled the scene.

1282. Bend, Ore. Jan. 26. 48-year-old man walking his bike across the street struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle.

1283. Hudson, Mass. Jan. 24. 61-year-old woman when struck by a silver or gray sedan which fled the scene.

1284. Pensacola, Fla. Jan. 24. 88-year-old woman robbed after stopped in a hit-and-run collision.

1285. Annapolis, Md. Jan. 27. 77-year-old man found face-down in the street after being struck by a red Ford F-350 truck with a snowplow which did not stop.

1286. Salem, Ore. Jan. 26. 37-year-old father of three struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

A hit-and-run accident in Upper Manhattan led police officers to an injured man tied up and stuffed in the trunk of a car, the police said.

And I quote (II) …

State troopers are asking for the public’s help to find the person involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a man critically injured two weeks ago.
Richard Hicks, 25, of Edwardsville, was walking northbound on Illinois 157 south of Mooney Creek Lane shortly after midnight Jan. 11 when he was struck by the large silver Ford, according to Illinois State Police. Hicks was dragged approximately 960 feet and dropped in the southbound lanes of Illinois 157, where he was struck by a southbound snowplow.

And I quote (III) …

Police said Thursday that they have found the vehicle they think was involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 12-year-old boy Saturday in rural Owen County.

And I quote (IV) …

Police have turned to the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles for help to identify all 2007-11 white Chevrolet Silverados registered in the state.
They want to find the one that struck a pedestrian Saturday night on Route 2 in Rumford, and then fled the scene, Sgt. Douglas Maifeld said Wednesday morning.

According to e-mails being circulated by Kearney’s friends who live in the Gavello Glen neighborhood, He was taken off life support and died Tuesday, according to the coroner’s office. Doctors told friends that he would have never fully recovered.

And I quote (VI) …

The driver of the SUV, Jose Beltran, is a retired Newark police officer who was returning home from a shift as a security officer. Beltran surrendered to authorities days later, saying he thought he had hit a guardrail, not a person.
In late November, he pleaded guilty to the top charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a second-degree crime that carries up to 10 years in prison. As part of the plea, Beltran, 50, would be sentenced as a third-degree offender, with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office recommending a 4-year prison term.

And I quote (VII) …

A northern New Jersey mayor has been indicted and charged with making false statements to police to cover up a hit-and-run accident.
A grand jury handed up the indictment of Roselle Mayor Garrett Smith on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Smith was involved in the accident early on Christmas morning after leaving a bar in Roselle.

And I quote (VIII)…

The young mother who mowed down a retired nurse at an Upper West Side intersection last November has been indicted on manslaughter charges carrying up to 15 years prison.
Jessica Altruz, 24, of The Bronx, sobbed loudly as she pleaded not guilty to charges she recklessly caused the death of Margaret Fischer, 67, then callously drove away without slowing.

And I quote (IX) …

The jury found Hampshire guilty of attempting to remove and hide the broken windshield of the car driven by Travis Carroll during the hit-and-run that killed 28-year-old Ryan Rossley. Carroll, the driver of the vehicle, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for running Rossley down and is now serving a 5- to 15-year state prison sentence. Hampshire, who was a passenger in the car, was found guilty of assisting Carroll in removing a portion of the windshield from Carroll’s car that had DNA evidence on it and hiding it in the woods.
