An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

5751. Goshen, Mich. Oct. 10. 30-year-old man injured when struck by a light-colored pickup truck which fled the scene.

5752. San Jose, Cal. Oct. 13. Woman fatally struck by a light-colored SUV which fled the scene.

5753-55. Pawtucket, RI. Oct. 13. Toddler and two adults injured when struck by a van which fled the scene but was later caught.

5756. Greenville, SC. Oct. 13. Man fatally struck by a black-over-silver Lexus LS-400 sedan which fled the scene.

5757. Sacramento, Cal. Oct. 13. 46-year-old bicyclist injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5758. Calistoga, Cal. Oct. 9. 15-year-old girl injured when struck by a white Acura or Altima which fled the scene.

5759. New Orleans, La. Oct. 14. Off-duty police officer injured when struck by a Jeep which fled the scene.

5760. Newport News, Va. Oct. 14. 21-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5761. Greensboro, NC. Oct. 15. 59-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5762. Pinellas Park, Fla. Oct. 15. 51-year-old man fatally struck by a red, late-2000s Toyota four-door, possibly a Camry, which fled the scene.

5763. Mt. Pleasant, SC. Oct. 14. 17-year-old male injured when struck by a dark-colored SUV which fled the scene.

5764. Wellesley, Mass. Oct. 14. 16-year-old male injured when struck by an older-model Honda which fled the scene.

5765. Houston, Texas. Oct. 15. 56-year-old man fatally struck by a school bus which fled the scene.

5766. Los Angeles, Cal. Oct. 8. 8-year-old boy injured when struck by a truck which fled the scene.

5767. Raeford, NC. Oct. 15. 59-year-old man on bicycle fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5768. Galveston, Texas. Oct. 15. 22-year-old man badly injured when struck by a large pickup truck which fled the scene.

5769. Phoenix, Ariz. Oct. 15. 54-year-old man critically injured when struck by an “SUV-type vehicle” which fled the scene.

5770. Etowah, Ga. Oct. 3. 15-year-old boy injured when struck by a Chrysler PT Cruiser which fled the scene.

5771. Ashland, Va. Oct. 16. Bicyclist injured when struck by a silver 2006-2009 Ford Fusion SEL, Ford Fusion mid-range or Mercury Milan, which fled the scene.

And I quote (I)…

New Orleans police impounded the vehicle they say was used in a hit-and-run that injured two girls on Oct. 5 in the city’s Lower 9th Ward.

The vehicle, a tan, 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, was found Thursday in the 2600 block of Gordon Street, said NOPD spokesman Tyler Gamble. The Tahoe was without a license plate when police found it, Gamble said, and investigators are currently awaiting the results of tests performed on DNA samples found in the vehicle.

And I quote (II)…

Officers posted a picture of the man on Facebook, along with a photo of the truck he was driving. In an updated Facebook post today, police said a citizen called the Police Department on Friday identifying the man in the photo, leading to his arrest.

And I quote (III)…

MONTGOMERY, TX (KTRK) — A suspected hit and run driver is now behind bars. He was arrested Sunday for allegedly hitting a Montgomery County Commissioner’s young son and then fleeing the scene.

The accident happened on Champions Ridge Road just before 5:30pm.

Deputies say 25-year-old Billy Dale Barnett, Jr. of Magnolia hit 13-year-old Maverick Noack and took off. Maverick says he was standing along the roadway when he says someone driving that silver pickup hit him and threw him into the ditch.

“It didn’t hurt at first but then it started hurting a lot,” said Maverick.

And I quote (IV)…

A retired NYPD officer who pleaded guilty in the hit-and-run death of a 13-year-old girl with Down syndrome in Levittown was sentenced to 1 1/3 to four years in prison on Tuesday.

And I quote (V)…

The condition of a woman hit and run victim who was struck by a driver in downtown Charleston has worsened, an MUSC spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The condition of the victim, 44 year old Sharline James was downgraded from serious to critical.

And I quote (VI)…

A man who was struck by a hit-skip vehicle while walking on the Far East Side on Oct. 2 died of his injuries, Columbus police said yesterday.

Ronald Willis, 54, of E. 5th Avenue, died at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center on Monday night.

And I quote (VII)…

A Pennsauken man charged in the March 2013 fatal hit-and-run death of a Bayonne man is headed to trial after he turned down a plea deal today in which he would likely serve 10 years in prison.

Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Lynne Seborowski proposed that Ruben A. Rodriguez plead guilty to the second-degree crime of leaving the scene of an accident, and that he serve 10 years in state prison in the crash that killed Bayonne resident Justin Bellini, 22, St. Peter’s Prep graduate.

Rodriguez’s attorney, Eric Mark, declined the offer.

“Trial or counter offer?” Hudson County Superior Court Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez asked Mark.

“Trial,” replied Mark.

And I quote (VIII)…

A Lewiston man pleaded not guilty to murder charge on Wednesday in Androscoggin County Superior Court in the hit-and-run death last month of his estranged fiancée, who was four months pregnant.

Evaristo Deus, 33, appeared in the courtroom before Justice MaryGay Kennedy, flanked by his attorney and a French interpreter.

And I quote (IX)…

At first, Lucero told the officer he damaged his truck by hitting a brush area. After more questioning, Lucero told police, “I accidentally hit a guy on a bicycle.”

After a number of field sobriety tests, Lucero told the officer the cyclist came out of nowhere and explained why he didn’t stop.

“I didn’t stay at the crime scene because I was so freaked out, and I’m already in trouble with the law over something, and that’s why…I’m feeling out of my mind,” Lucero told police.

A few minutes later, the officer told Lucero he blew a .04 on a breath alcohol test and he’s was going to be detained.

Police say they have identified the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed construction worker Shelby Shull, 44, early July 23.

Police arrested Dustin Halstead, 21, of 6546 Eagle View Loop in Lakeland on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death, a first-degree felony.

And I quote (XI)…

TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) — It’s been nearly three years since a Tiverton man was struck by a car and killed, and since an arrest was never made – police are now turning to social media for help.

Detective Brendan McKinnon has been working the case since the very beginning, and hopes with the public’s help he can give the victim’s family answers and closure.

On the day before Thanksgiving back in 2011, John Kieron was crossing the street near the corner of Main Road and Hilton Street when a vehicle hit him and took off. Kieron, 70, was in the hospital for two and a half months before he was removed from life support.

“Somebody committed a heinous crime and they need to pay for it,” Steven Overton said at the time of his uncle’s death.

A juvenile suspected to be involved in a hit-and-run accident was nabbed by police Oct. 12, after a trail of automotive fluid led officers directly from the scene of the accident to his vehicle.

The owner of the Greenville Halloween Express says the manager of her store was run over twice by the vehicle of two women fleeing the store after stealing a costume.

And I quote (XV)…

NORTH-PLAINFIELD – An unlicensed cab driver was charged with assault by auto after he ran a red light, struck a borough man and failed to report the accident, police said in a release.

Francisco A. Jimenez-Perez, 49, of Plainfield was driving a Soria Taxi Cab Wednesday morning when he ran a red light and hit Guillermo Solis-Acosta of North Plainfield at the intersection of Somerset and Pearl Street, police said. Police didn’t indicate in the news release whether Solis-Acosta was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

And I quote (XVI)…

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama– A Huntsville woman that was charged in the Sept. hit-and-run death of 8-year-old Weixi Zhang, is behind bars again.

LaTonya Denise Haley, 31, was arrested Thursday morning and booked in the Madison County Jail at 1:03 a.m. on charges of DUI, speeding, driving with a suspended license, no tag registration and failure to have insurance.

Haley was previously arrested after police said she hit Zhang and his two sisters in the area of Highway 72 and North Park Drive on Sept. 14, and left the scene without stopping.
