An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

5710. Muir, Mich. Oct. 5. 42-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5711. Muskegon, Mich. Oct. 4. 15-year-old female injured when struck by a dark full-sized pickup truck which fled the scene.

5712-13. Columbia, SC. Oct. 3. Two women injured when struck by a an older model Buick Century, possibly gold or tan, which fled the scene.

5714. Mt. Lebanon, Pa. Oct. 4. 28-year-old woman badly injured when struck by a small red Jeep which fled the scene.

5715. Montgomery, Ala. Oct. 6. Pedestrian injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5716. Asheville, NC. Oct. 3. Woman on bicycle injured when struck by a vehicle which fled the scene after driver got out to check on victim.

5717. Landover, Md. Oct. 3. 63-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5718-20. Auburn, Ala. Oct. 5. Three 17-year-olds injured when struck by a vehicle which fled the scene.

5721. Lansing, Mich. Oct. 5. 36-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5722. Caruthersville, Mo. Oct. 2. Pedestrian injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

5723. Holbrook, NY. Oct. 2. 43-year-old man on bicycle injured when struck by a large commercial truck which fled the scene.

5724. Phoenix, Ariz. Oct. 4. 24-year-old man fatally struck by a black older-model Honda which fled the scene.

5725-26. New Orleans, La. Oct. 5. 11-year-old and 9-year-old girls injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

And I quote (I)…

INDIANAPOLIS – Police were still looking Sunday night for four drivers in a fatal hit-and-run.

The incident happened on Friday night on the northwest side, near the intersection of West 34th Street and Moller Road. Police say 68-year-old Michael Fink was run over by four different vehicles as he was leaving the nearby VFW hall around 8 p.m.

All four of those vehicles fled the scene.

Fink was once commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 98. On Sunday, his friend Dave Thipodeau remembered his fallen comrade.

“He was happier than a lark,” Thipodeau said. “He was always happy. Always happy.”

An intoxicated driver struck a 22-year-old Madison bicyclist on the 600 block of University Avenue Friday, knocking the victim unconscious before driving away, according to MPD Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain.

The driver, Brynn Maphis, 22, blew a .21 for her breathalyzer test after being spotted by a Capitol Police officer and then stopped by police on East Johnson Street. Maphis also denied hitting the bicyclist, according to the incident report.

A Granite City High School student is dead and another student is hospitalized after a hit-and-run, and police have taken a suspect into custody.

Daniel Embrey and two friends were walking along Edwardsville Road near 14th Street about 9:30 p.m. when a red car came up behind them and struck them, officials said.

Police found 16-year-old Daniel in the roadway and he was taken to Gateway Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

One of his companions was flown to a St. Louis-area hospital for treatment of a leg injury, which was not life-threatening, police said. The third teenager was not harmed.

“This is a tragic and unfortunate incident,” said Granite City Superintendent Jim Greenwald. “It’s just absolutely terrible … Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families.”

A tip led police to arrest a 21-year-old Hamburg woman for an alleged hit-and-run on Big Tree Road in July that killed Jennifer Martello.

Ashley Sawicki was arraigned Monday morning in Hamburg Town Court on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an incident which resulted in death without reporting, Hamburg police reported.

Police said a tip they received regarding a 2004 blue Dodge Neon registered to a Hamburg address led to Sawicki’s arrest after they determined the car had recently sustained damage and had a windshield replaced.

And I quote (V)…

A pedestrian hospitalized after being struck in a September hit-and-run has died, Las Vegas police said on Monday.

Gosani Vallabhdas, 76, of India, was crossing Industrial Road near Circus Circus Drive outside of a marked crosswalk shortly before 8 p.m. on Sept. 11, police said. He was struck by a 2009 Ford Explorer driven by Scott Lefkowitz, 52, police said.

Vallabhdas had been hospitalized at University Medical Center with serious injuries until his death on Sept. 25, police said.
