Hit-and-Run America, Vol. DCCLXXVI

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 10356. Years after his death, an anonymous letter has led to an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that killed Baylor University sophomore David Grotberg.

10357. Miramar police are searching for a hit-and-run driver described as a blue-haired woman behind the wheel of a white, four-door car, who struck a 23-year-old man and drove away.

10358. “She told the police officer, that when she hit Charlene, it was like hitting a turkey. You just keep going,” said James.

10359. Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver that struck a man in a wheelchair and left him injured in a street in Ventura late Thursday night.

10360. COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A hit-and-run driver struck a child as the child was walking to school Friday morning, according to Colerain Township police spokesman Jim Love.

10361. The Napa Police Department is kicking off its new Traffic Safety Program this month by declaring March the month of hit-and-run collisions.

10362. Five passengers in the car during the hit-and-run and the alleged driver’s parents turned themselves into police Friday. The five passengers were booked on principle to felony hit-and-run because they failed to report the crash to police or render aid to Heinen.

10363. A Yonkers family is demanding justice for their loved one who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver earlier this month. Police say they found Jesus Villanueva, 23, on Radford Street just feet from his home. He was rushed to the hospital where he died from his severe injuries.

10364. While crossing a highway with his baseball team in Drew County on Saturday, a 20-year-old student from Oklahoma was seriously injured by a car that struck him and fled the scene, according to state police. Joseph D. Cerda Jr., a senior at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, crossed U.S. 425 in Monticello shortly after 8 p.m. as he and his teammates headed to a local restaurant, officials said. Their team played a game at University of Arkansas’ Monticello campus earlier that day.

10365. A 66-year-old man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bicycle Sunday on Long Island.

10366. “I’m still hearing her voice and still looking out the window waiting for her to come home,” Kerry Wilson said. “I just want the person who did this to feel the exact same thing that I’m feeling, my mom’s feeling, our family’s feeling.”

10367. A Los Banos man charged with the hit-and-run death of a 19-year-old woman has an extensive history of reckless driving, speeding and traffic infractions, according to court records.

10368. LINDEN — A city man ran over a teacher, left her for dead and then fixed the damage to his vehicle in an effort to hide the evidence, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. Ibn Collins, 39, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with the Jan. 20 fatal hit and run that killed 35-year-old Meghan Crilly, a Fanwood resident who taught in Mountainside.
