Courtney Smith, 11, Elkhart, died at the scene of East Beardsley Avenue and Cassopolis Street when police said a Cadillac traveling east on Beardsley Avenue left the south side of the road and struck Smith and four other people on the sidewalk before driving off. Smith’s niece, Dolly, only 8 months old, was also killed along with Shawn Wolcott, 22, also of Elkhart, Smith’s half-brother and Dolly’s uncle.

A broken bug shield helped lead investigators to a man suspected in the hit-and-run death of a nun in Alma.

Justin Thomas Fell, 33, was arraigned Tuesday on charges that include leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence. He could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Sister Joseph Marie (Madeleine) Ruessmann, 64, a member of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, was riding her bicycle at 7:15 a.m. Aug. 17 on Michigan Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle. She died later that day.

A Modesto police sergeant hit and killed while riding his bicycle will be laid to rest on Wednesday.

Sgt. Michael Pershall died last week after being struck by a DUI suspect on Merle Avenue.

“She still struggling to breathe on her own,” said Ida Peery, the vicitm’s sister. “They’re keeping her sedated.”

A Phoenix mom claims it took police more than 90 minutes to respond to an accident that left her son and his friend injured in the street.

Will Jones is recovering from a hit-and-run accident that nearly claimed his life back in June. Now the publisher of Black WNY is trying to stay positive and hopeful, but like his family, he wants the person responsible for the accident apprehended.

There’s renewed hope for a New Hampshire family, as investigators take a fresh look at a 1990 hit-and-run case.

Thirty-year-old Sheila Rosati was hit and killed on Kimball Hill Road in Hudson, back on March 3 1990. Witnesses told police the driver of a1981-1990 Dodge Ram, either silver or light blue, was traveling westbound at the time of the crash. The driver never stopped after running her over, and was seen speeding off in the direction of Bush Hill Road.

“I think about it every time I see a Dodge. You’re like, ‘Is that the person?’” said Sheila’s sister, Lori Rosati.

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a white Honda after fixing a bike at a friend’s house hours earlier Thursday, police said.

Lorenzo Velazquez, 19, was riding the bike northbound when a vehicle going west went through a green light and struck Velazquez at C and Ashdale Streets in the Olney section of North Philadelphia at 11:45 p.m., police said.

Velazquez flew off of the bike land suffered severe head trauma when he hit the ground, police said.

He was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital but died from his injuries shortly after midnight Friday.

When a 17-year-old driver tried to run from the scene of an accident, bystanders didn’t let him get away.

And I quote (X)…

One witness told investigators that the woman had gone onto the truck’s hood and then to the ground.

“He said it looked like the truck drove right over the pedestrian’s pregnant belly,” charging papers show.

And I quote (XI)…

Rescue personnel credited a passerby with helping save the life of a man who suffered a serious leg injury after being intentionally hit by a car, police said.

The community united Friday to lie to rest two victims in Saturday’s deadly hit-and-run in Elkhart.

“Every day he fights for his life,” said the man’s niece, Mia Atkins-Beason.

“Society does not need people like that driving around with a license not caring about life,” said Edgar Rodriquez. “The driver, he can’t just be driving around free, acting like nothing happened. Somebody else is going to be a victim, someone else is going to get hurt or die.”

A 40-year-old Tulsa man is jailed without bond as of Tuesday afternoon on first-degree murder and five felony assault complaints related to two hit-and-run collisions in downtown Tulsa that targeted people who are homeless.

Jeremy Thacker did not give a statement to homicide detectives before being escorted out of the Tulsa Police Detective Division in connection with the Monday morning death of 46-year-old Shawn Birdo and injuries to Cynthia Wallace and James Russell.

He is also accused of running over the legs of another woman who is homeless around 5 p.m. Monday in the area of 14th Place and Carthage Avenue.
