Hit-and-Run America, Vol. DCCCXLIII

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. After a respite from keeping the list, it restarted in January 2019, highlighting one case a day. If there’s a case you’ve seen that deserves highlighting, drop me a line at hickey@brianphickey.com.

11802. “They weren’t just mom and dad. They’re grandparents and great grandparents. They’re good, local Connecticut people, grew up in the area, lived in the area, lived here their whole lives. My father is an Air Force vet. My mother is active in the church,” Ken Tamborra added.

11803. Her granddaughter says you can see Barrios being struck by a white Infiniti at 6:00 pm as she was crossing NW 1st Street at 26 Avenue.

11804. James and Barbara Tamborra died days apart after they were injured in the crash on Route 67 Friday. Police say the Shelton couple, both 81, were hit by an SUV while they were crossing the street attended a service at a funeral home Friday night.

11805. Two people are now in the hospital as Philadelphia police search a hit and run driver following a Thursday night crash. Police said the crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of East Westmoreland Street in the city’s Port Richmond section.

11807. Edelmira Barrios was crossing on Northwest 26th Avenue and Northwest First Street at 6:05 p.m. when a driver in a white four-door Infiniti sedan — possibly a Q50 — hit the 77-year-old woman after apparently failing to stop at the stop sign, Officer Kenia Fallat, spokesperson with Miami PD, said Thursday.

11808. Irwin said the department received an anonymous tip at 3:29 p.m. on Thursday that led them to a vehicle matching the given description in the 2800 block of Smith Sims Road in Trussville. State troopers and Leeds officers responded to the area and determined the vehicle at the location was the one involved in the hit-and-run.

11809. “They want justice and closure,” Rinaldi said. “This is going to affect them the rest of their lives around the holidays.”

11811. “Where we found him was in the grass by the dead end. It was so dark that you could not see him at all. And the cars were going by so fast you wouldn’t have been able to stop and say, oh, there’s a bike there,” Bey said.
