Hit-and-Run America, Vol. DCCCXII

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 11178. Police believe the victim of a deadly hit-and-run crash  over the weekend had been lying on the side of the street for more than 48 hours before he was found.

11179. Police are searching for a driver who struck a grandmother and her 2-year-old grandson who was in a stroller while they crossed a street in the Bronx on Monday.

11180. When asked what she would say to the driver who left her uncle in the road, Brandenberger said, “I understand you might have panicked. I understand that it might have been hard for you to realize what happened, but please, please, please just come forward. We have so many unanswered questions. We now lost a huge part of our lives.”

11181. Footage of a driver sprinting down Route 42 in Camden County after crashing his SUV into the median and ricocheting into another car Sunday afternoon is going viral on TikTok.

11182. Detectives have video of the truck seconds before the impact, according to Duane McGuire of the Helotes Police Department. Cameras did not capture the collision itself but it can be heard off screen.

11183. “She was a selfless individual,” Sankar said. “We think we’re only here to grab and grab and take for ourselves but this is a young individual who would just give and give.”

11184. Sonia Bucio had a message for whoever was behind the wheel: “It’s OK to be scared. But just turn yourself in. Because I don’t know how you’re going to live with that feeling that you killed two people. You drove off. I don’t know how you could deal with that.”

11185. “July 2018 they both lost their jobs, you know, pretty much within days of each other. A month later at the end of August 2018, they had a house fire and the house burned to the ground,” McNulty explained. “It’s just been a lot of bad things happening one after another after another, it’s a lot on a family. And then this.”

11186. NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — A hit-and-run driver struck a woman pushing her 1-year-old grandchild in a stroller, putting the grandmother in critical condition and causing the baby to die Christmas morning, authorities said.

11187. “You just took off after you left that person injured. You didn’t even bother to call for the cops or nothing like that,” said another Ozone Park resident in disbelief.

11188. Bremerton police are investigating a possible hit and run Christmas morning, where a man was struck and seriously injured on Wheaton Way and a witness later saw a man pulling the victim out of the roadway before leaving the scene.

11189. “I just don’t understand how somebody could do that, how you could live with yourself after doing something like that,” Swanson said.

11190. “If the sidewalks were clear, we wouldn’t have to walk in the street. My loved one wouldn’t have to be in the hospital fighting,” she said. “I would gladly use the sidewalk if it was clear all the way down.”

11191. “Maybe an autobody shop that recognizes it or maybe its a nearby car in your neighborhood,” said Lt. Brooks. “Anything that you think is useful, please call us.”

11192. Arkansas State Police is investigating the death of Rita J. Brooks of Batesville. Brooks was found near the east shoulder of US Highway 167. Investigators suspect she was hit by a car around 8:15 p.m. while taking out the trash near her home in Independence County, according to a news release.

11193. Emotional, Pogmore said, “That was my cousin Paul he came in as a John Doe… they couldn’t revive him. I don’t know what else to say, I don’t even know how long he’d been lying in the snow.”

11194. One of the victims succumbed to her injuries on the scene, and the other was transported to a hospital for life-threatening injuries where she later died. The Honda driver abandoned the car and fled on foot, police said. Witnesses followed the suspect and helped police locate him in a commercial building on the 100 block of Second Street.

11195. A GoFundMe page set up to help the family with funeral expenses says the boy was walking home from the store with his father when the accident happened.

11196. A 75-year-old woman is dead after she was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood. Investigators say a maroon Honda Civic hit the 75-year-old woman on East Allegheny Avenue just before 7 p.m. Saturday. She died a short time later.

11197. “He was waiting to go see his daughter. He never made it to her,” said Sims’s cousin, Courtney Jackson.

11198. A man driving a van fatally struck a 4-year-old boy and critically injured a 6-year-old boy moments after he had dropped them off at a yeshiva in Brooklyn on Monday morning, the authorities said.

11199. Police are searching for the driver who fatally hit an adult skateboarder Sunday night before fleeing the scene, Ocoee Police Department spokesman Sgt. William Wagner said Monday.

11200. Philadelphia police charged a 29-year-old man with homicide by vehicle in the death of a pedestrian early Sunday morning in Kensington.

11201. The pedestrian who was fatally struck and dragged by a vehicle in Charlestown Tuesday has been identified by police as a 92-year-old man.
