Hit-and-Run America, Vol. CMXXIX

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 13134. “All of a sudden, I hear honking. I hear a car speed up, and sure enough, the same white truck came up alongside me,” said Gonzalez. “I just had time to look over and to see it was the same truck and to see the driver steer and turn the truck and speed right into me. I went flying and landed in the street with several injuries.”

13135. Preliminary investigation reveals the 50-year-old man, later identified as James Perry, known to frequent the Kīhei area, was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling eastbound on Piʻikea Avenue. Perry was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the unknown operator of the unidentified vehicle did not stop or render aid.

13136. Dash cam footage of the incident shows a vehicle making a swift lane merge to the right, taking off around a school bus and hitting the victim as he attempted to cross the street at Story and Morrison avenues.

13137. The NYPD is looking for a driver in a deadly hit-and-run in Long Island City, Queens. Police say Darryl Younger, a school lunch handler for the Department of Education, was killed. The 58-year-old was crossing Jackson Avenue heading to work early Friday morning when he was hit. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

13138. Chesterfield Township police are seeking the public’s help in locating the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 7-year-old girl seriously injured Thursday night.

13139. A bicyclist was critically injured early Thursday morning in a hit-and-run crash, Vernon Hills police said.

13140. A man in a wheelchair died following a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning in Northeast Portland’s Montavilla neighborhood. … “82nd is not necessarily the safest street that we have in the community,” said PF&R. “Unfortunately, in this case an individual was struck and did not make it.”

13141. SAN ANTONIO – Police are investigating a body discovered early Friday morning along a busy Downtown highway. Police said the man was crossing the highway when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene.

13142. A terrifying hit-and-run was caught on camera in Santa Ana. Dashcam video showed two pedestrians on Harbor and 1st Street Saturday morning, right before 8 a.m.

13143. “A security guard conducting a perimeter check of a commercial complex in the area located an unidentified male subject unresponsive near the railroad tracks,” the statement said.

13144. SALISBURY, N.C. — One person is dead after a hit-and-run in Salisbury, according to police.

13145. MEMPHIS, Tenn. – One person is dead after being hit by a car, the Memphis Police Department said.

13146. Police have arrested a 79-year-old driver they say ran into a student on their way to school and then drove off Friday morning in Petersburg.

13147. A deadly hit and run took place in May of 2022, and Memphis police are still looking to find the suspect.  A pedestrian was struck and killed on Summer Avenue near Graham, according to the Memphis Police Department.

13149. Fresno Police are investigating a Central Fresno hit-and-run that sent one person to the hospital. Police were called to Thesta Street and Normal Avenue just before 1 a.m. Sunday where they found a pedestrian that had been hit by a car.

13150. An Elon University student in Myrtle Beach with his baseball team was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run accident, the university’s vice president said.
