Hit-and-Run America, Vol. CMXVI

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 12917. “I had no shoes on. I just ran across the street, and I ran to the first car I saw, and he just took off running,” O’Rourke told KTLA. “So, I left him alone and I went to the other car, the one that got hit. He caused the accident and didn’t have any car for anyone’s life.”

12918. “I don’t know how to put it in words, it’s just a lot losing a friend who we were just with so unexpectedly it’s a hard feeling,” said Randy Meran, who was with the victims just moments before their deaths.

12919. Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind Monday morning’s mayhem after a man behind the wheel of a rented U-Haul truck plowed into multiple people on streets, bike lanes and sidewalks of two Brooklyn neighborhoods, leaving one person dead and eight injured in his wake.

12920. A person was found dead along a roadway in the Eagle River area early Sunday, and Anchorage police were describing it as a possible hit-and-run.

12921. LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — The North Londonderry Township Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash, where a 20-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a passing vehicle.

12923. Police said the driver of an unknown model Honda hit a pedestrian who died as a result of the crash. The suspect vehicle should have front-end or undercarriage damage from the crash, police said. The driver of the vehicle left the scene, according to police.

12924. Police are searching for the driver who struck a pedestrian and then fled the area Monday evening in Fridley, Minn.

12925. Salt Lake City Police are actively looking for tips in finding the driver of a hit-and-run crash that left 31-year-old Brandon Maher dead.

12926. “He gets out of the car and goes to talk to the bus driver and after he talks to the bus driver, he goes up to my sister’s house to go talk to her. My sister was telling him over and over again to stay here. Don’t go anywhere. She turned her back for a second and he was gone,” said Bates.

12927. Just before 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon, a car struck a teenage boy near Winter Garden-Vineland Road and Lake Butler Boulevard. It had previously been reported the teen was on a bicycle, but Winter Garden police have given an update that the teenager was riding a skateboard at the time of the crash. He was taken to the hospital, where he is in critical condition.

12928. A pedestrian was struck and killed in front of the Route 9 Library and Innovation Center on the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue around 11:46 p.m. Wednesday.

12929. A driver accused of killing two Florida Memorial University students in Miami Gardens before fleeing the scene on foot has been identified by police. Jerome Harrell, 35, was still being treated for injuries he suffered after fleeing the scene, Miami Gardens Police officials said Tuesday.

12930. MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A man and a dog were found dead on Madison’s west side Wednesday night after an apparent hit and run.

12931. The driver of a tractor-trailer hit and killed a bicyclist Tuesday morning in Long Beach and did not stop, police said.

12932. A pedestrian was killed after being struck by two vehicles in Largo, police said. One driver stayed, but the other left the scene.

12933. Boston police are investigating an alleged hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian in Mattapan early Thursday morning.
