Hit-and-Run America, Vol. CMXI

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 12821. A frightening hit-and-run in Brooklyn is now being investigated as a possible hate crime.

12822. The Gainesville Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run early Tuesday afternoon involving a bicyclist in the 3500 block of Southwest Archer Road, according to a department Facebook post.

12823. Two pedestrians were walking eastbound when a white 2007 Chevrolet Equinox with Illinois registration and a license plate of CZ74463 struck them. A 63-year-old man died from his injuries.

12824. According to police, an elderly man was walking along the interstate when he was hit and killed by a driver.


12826. Police in Prince George County are asking for help identifying and locating a driver who they say hit and killed a pedestrian before leaving the scene.

12827. A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in Los Altos on Saturday before the driver fled the scene, the Los Altos Police Department said in a Jan. 9 statement. The victim, a 42-year-old man, is in critical but stable condition, and police are seeking the public’s help to identify the driver.

12828. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run in January 2022. St. Louis detectives are searching for Ronald Berry, 34, who is charged with second-degree involuntary manslaughter after a fatal hit-and-run last year.

12829. “We are so happy about the arrest because it gives us a little sense of peace,” Johnson’s mother, Catrice Johnson, told Streetsblog on Wednesday. “It just goes to show that persistence pays off.”

12830. “I hope they found out who did it and get some justice for the guy,” shared Terrence James, who works in that plaza. Residents told TV20 many people use that street as a shortcut and some speed right through.

12831. A man was killed in an apparent hit-and-run crash near Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis on Thursday morning, officials say.

12832. “He is a hero, and that’s a story that will live on forever,” said Cole’s granddaughter, Tiana Cole. “That’s the legacy that he has left for us.”

12833. Police are search for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left one pedestrian critically wounded in Englewood on Wednesday night.

12834. According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, just before 3 a.m., police were called to the 1600 block of West Carson Street for reports of a pedestrian hit by a car. Once first responders arrived on the scene, they found a man down in the street. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.


12836. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KFOR) – The Oklahoma Police Department has confirmed a deadly vehicle accident that has left one woman dead and police searching for the vehicle.

12837. According to Seaside Police they have located the suspected car involved in the deadly hit-and-run. Police say the car belongs to Sara Mazzia, 50, who is the owner of a 2008 Audi TT convertible.

12838. WEST HARTFORD — Police have released a description of a car wanted in a December hit-and-run that caused the death of an older woman.
