Hit-and-Run America, Vol. CMLX

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 13665. A retired California police chief appeared to be deliberately mowed down and killed while riding his bike in Las Vegas by a laughing teenage driver whose pal can be heard saying “Yeah, hit his ass,” video of the incident shows.

13666. ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A hit-and-run crash Sunday morning in Orange County left a man dead and a woman hurt as Florida Highway Patrol troopers set out to find the driver who ran from the wreck.

13667. According to a news release from the police department, officers responded to Carolina Beach Road and Sunnyvale Drive shortly after midnight Saturday and found one male victim who had sustained “severe injuries” after being struck by a vehicle. The victim was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and later died.

13668. A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Plant City Friday night, according to police.

13669. Police said the victim, identified as 20-year-old Maria Araujo Muniz De Souza, was riding her bicycle eastbound on Northeast 205th Street and as she approached the intersection of Northeast 14th Avenue, she was struck by a pick-up truck.

13670. Police are asking the public for help in finding the driver of a dark blue Cadillac involved in a fatal hit-and-run in the city’s Near West Side early Sunday morning, police said.

13671. Just after midnight on Monday, Philadelphia police say a 42-year-old man was hit by a car as he was in a crosswalk on Roosevelt Boulevard near Revere Street. When police got on the scene they found the man unresponsive in the northbound middle lane. Police said he died at the scene. His identity has not been released. Police say the driver fled the area. But, at the scene, police found a bumper that led them to believe the car involved was a 2010-2015 Toyota Prius.


13673. Police are searching for two drivers after a hit-and-run crash killed a woman late Monday night in northwest Oklahoma City.

13674. Officers with the Archdale Police Department are looking for a driver responsible for a hit-and-run. On Sept. 19, around 5:20 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Daniel Paul Drive in reference to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.

13675. Niagara Falls police are attempting to locate the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in the area of 22nd Street and Pierce Avenue on Sunday around 6:45 p.m. Police said about six people were involved in a dispute on 22nd Street near Pierce Avenue when one of the people involved allegedly got into a vehicle, pulled into the alley to turn around, and intentionally drove up the sidewalk and into the group of pedestrians.

13676. Surveillance video released to FOX8 shows the jogger running in Archdale’s Kingsfield neighborhood before a car drives past her, turns around and speeds up in her direction. At one point in the video, the jogger can be heard screaming for help. The car then drives away from the scene.

13677. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Police are searching for the driver who ran over a pedestrian and left her dying in the roadway.

13678. ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Police are asking for help Wednesday to find the car they believe was involved in a hit-and-run that seriously hurt a 61-year-old bicyclist.

13679. BRIGHTON, Colo. — The Brighton Police Department is asking for the public’s help finding the driver in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a woman on a bicycle.
