CINCINNATI – Over a year ago Jaylen Hill, 3, was struck and killed in a hit-skip accident as he played in front of the family’s Fairbanks Avenue home.

Police and family are still looking for the driver who hit the toddler.

“It is very frustrating because — whenever there’s a death, it’s terrible, but I think it strikes home when it’s a child,” Lt. Bruce Hoffbauer of the Cincinnati Police Traffic section said. “The policemen investigating the crash — they all have children. That makes it even worse. I think the public can feel that and in this case it’s been some time and we’ve gotten really no leads from the public.”

Janell Hill, Jaylen’s mother, said she prays for closure to the case of her child’s death, explaining the past couple of months were difficult for her family.

“The family know what’s going on, but the other siblings — they want to know is Jaylen going to come back — the little ones — and they always talk about Jaylen,” Janell Hill said. “I wish if anyone knows what’s going on would they please come forward because if it was their child and I knew anything, I would come forward. It’s not being a snitch. It’s being a person helping someone who lost someone. It’s real hard out here without my son —- and people who know what’s going on is not coming forward — even the person who did it.”

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
