1F3AC7AFB405C8F7B510877A925CEA24_292_292 An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

2013-15. South Los Angeles, Cal. Oct. 30. 10-year-old girl and her 6- and 4-year-old brothers suffer minor injuries when hit by a blue car that fled the scene.

2016. Tulsa, Okla. Oct. 29. 46-year-old woman seriously injured when struck by a red Dodge pickup truck which fled the scene.

2017. Wayne, NJ. Oct. 30. 22-year-old man seriously injured when hit by a 1998-2001 silver Kia Sportage which fled the scene.

2018. Turlock, Cal. Oct. 31. Man between 35 to 40 years old suffers life-threatening injuries when struck by a dark-colored sports utility vehicle, possibly a 2002-2003 Ford Escape, which fled the scene.

2019. Deerpark, NY. Oct. 31. 53-year-old man struck and killed by a dark-colored pickup truck with a yellow plow attached which fled the scene.

2020. Richland, Miss. Nov. 1. 10-year-old boy crossing the street to get to his school bus killed when struck by a silver or white car which fled.

2021. Ross Twp., Pa. Nov. 1. 72-year-old woman suffered a broken leg and deep cuts that required 40 stitches when struck by a 2000-2006 white Kia Optima with damage to the front bumper which fled.

2022-23. Champaign, Ill. Oct. 30. 19-year-old and 20-year-old women seriously injured when struck by a white four-door car which fled the scene.

2024-25. Boiling Springs, NC. Nov. 1. Two college students suffer minor injuries after being struck by a black Lexus which fled the scene.

2026. Wadmalaw Island, SC. Oct. 31. 49-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening injuries when struck by a white Ford pick-up which fled the scene.

2027-28. Brooklyn, NY. Nov. 1. Two 12-year-old boys riding on a bicycle injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle that was apparently drag racing.

A 42-year-old German man was dressed like the famed Jedi Master when he hit a pedestrian and jumped into light speed Sunday morning in Darmstadt, near Frankfurt, authorities said in a statement.

Police pulled him over minutes later.

“The officers were especially surprised to see Grand Master Yoda at the wheel,” a spokeperson for the Darmstadt police said, Agence France-Presse reported.

And I quote (I)…

Police said the Volvo SUV had front-end damage, and officers found the victim’s eyeglasses in the SUV’s windshield wiper mechanism and “remnants” of the cereal he had been eating when he was struck lodged in its grill.

Cecilia Galarza would have forgiven the driver who killed her son in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday in eastern New Orleans if that person would have stopped and called for help. Instead, that motorist abandoned Piero Larrea, 23, so Galarza is now pleading for anyone who may have information that could help identify a suspect to contact authorities.
“As a mother, I need closure,” she said in Spanish on Monday at the home she shared with Larrea in Slidell. “(The driver) just left him there to die. … To me, (whoever did that) is the worst criminal.”

A witness reported that University of Nebraska Husker volleyball star “Lauren Cook’s expression left no doubt she knew she had struck two people on a motorcycle in north Lincoln before fleeing the scene.”

A Kansas City family says their pet was the victim of animal cruelty. Their dog appears to have been hit by a truck on purpose. The driver then dragged the dog under the truck for blocks. The family wants to see the driver behind bars.

CORPUS CHRISTI – Testimony continues in the trial of a woman accused of a fatal hit and run on Superbowl Sunday. Police say 25-year old Candace Chesnutt ran over 42-year old Luis Trevino at Paradise Billiards, and left him to die. Chesnutt was arrested in March after police say her husband recognized her in surveillance video aired on Six News and turned her in.

Lisa Welch said she was driving to Crown Center when her daughter saw a dog being dragged underneath a white Chevy S-10 pick-up truck. Welch said she pursued the truck, honking and yelling at the driver to pull over. After several blocks, Welch said a couple finally stopped.

“The woman got out of the truck, threw her hands in the air, looked at him, gave him a dirty look and she took off,” Welch said. “[She] walked away and never came back.”

As for the man in the truck, Welch said he didn’t seem concerned.

And I quote (VII) …

A man pointed a black gun at a driver after he struck his vehicle on the 5600 block of Henry Avenue and Walnut Lane on Oct. 25, according to Officer Tanya Little, a spokeswoman for the Philadelphia Police Department. The police describe the offender as an African American male in his mid-20s with a beard wearing a grey sweatshirt while driving a late model black Toyota Camry with tinted windows.

A Hatfield Township man has received a two-year probation sentence for insurance fraud after admitting he filed a false stolen-car report to cover up his involvement in a hit-and-run accident.

Mark DiMichele, 51, of the first block of Brookside Drive, earned a concurrent 1-year probation sentence after pleading guilty in Montgomery County Court this week to a charge of not stopping at an accident in which he was involved and where there was property damage.
