An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

2612. Phoenix, Ariz. June 5. 66-year-old man killed when struck by either a pickup truck with a camper shell or an SUV which fled the scene.

2613. Brockton, Mass. June 5. 6-year-old boy injured when struck by a black sedan with tinted windows which fled the scene.

2614. Rushville, NY. June 5. 43-year-old man riding a bicycle injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

Cheshire, of course, is the drummer in Stinking Lizaveta, a Philly punk rock institution if ever there was one. A few days ago, Cheshire was struck down on her bike by a passing motorist, who was then somehow allowed to leave the scene; and if the looks of the bike are anything to go by, it was a pretty grisly wreck.

And I quote (II)…

A Raleigh man surrendered to police Monday in connection with a hit-and-run last month that killed a Warren County teen.

Corey Champion, 28, of 3525 Dewing Drive, was charged with felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving with license revoked. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Cody Flowers, 15, was walking along northbound U.S. Highway 1 in Norlina, returning home from a friend’s house,on May 19 when a vehicle crossed the center line, struck him and didn’t stop, leaving him on the side of the highway, authorities said.

And I quote (III)…

A 49-year-old North Bergen man was arrested last night after he fled the scene of an accident in Hoboken, but left one license plate behind, according to police.

An officer said he saw Barlo Ochoa wreck his car then run from the scene. That officer chased Ochoa until he jumped into a nearby manhole and refused to come out.

A dive team rescued Ochoa from the manhole.

He was taken to the hospital. There is no word on this condition.

And I quote (V)…

The driver in an April South Miami hit-and-run accident that put a University of Miami student in a coma was apprehended Tuesday in New York, police said.

And I quote (VI)…

Bail was set at $150,000 on Tuesday for the driver charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 29-year-old woman heading to a country concert in Camden on Saturday.

A prosecutor said 35-year-old Ronald Winzinger, of Hainesport, stopped after slamming into the back of a car stopped in traffic on Interstate 676 in Camden but then drove off after seeing the seriousness of the crash.

A backseat passenger in the car, Michelle MacInnes, of Jackson, died following the crash.

During dramatic and emotional testimony, eyewitnesses to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian called the tragic event “surreal” and shocking as the alleged hit-and-run driver’s trial got under way.

“I started saying, ‘Oh my God, Oh my God’ and then she hit her. She somersaulted into the air … and landed on the ground. The car hit her. It all happened rather quickly,” James Harrison of Royersford testified Tuesday in Montgomery County Court, recalling for a jury the 1:34 p.m. April 27, 2011, crash that claimed the life of 26-year-old Kristy L. Bender who was walking along the 1200 block of South Township Line Road in Upper Providence on her way from work to her parents’ nearby home.

A man found guilty in a 2011 fatal hit and run in Kenton County was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison Wednesday.

A Bronx woman was in custody Wednesday in the hit-and-run death of her 17-year-old boyfriend as lethal payback for shattering her cell phone, police and family members said.
