BANGKOK—A deadly hit-and-run accident in Bangkok allegedly involving the scion of one of the country’s richest families has fueled public anger over the privileges granted to the wealthy in Thailand.
Bangkok police say the grandson of the founder of the Red Bull drinks empire was behind the wheel of a Ferrari that struck and killed a policeman in Bangkok on Monday. He was arrested after the hit-and-run accident that the city’s police chief says was initially covered up, with a false suspect turned in.
Vorayuth Yoovidhya, 27 years old, allegedly drove a gray Ferrari that hit and killed Police Senior Sgt. Maj. Wichian Klanprasert, 48, early Monday morning.

Davie police Wednesday said a vehicle and driver that may be linked to the hit-and-run crash that killed an 86-year-old woman have been identified.
On Monday, police said, Rita Chiero, who was using a walker, was ambling through her gated senior living community when she was was fatally struck from behind.

The vehicle was described by witnesses as a red or white landscaping-type dump truck. The driver was described as a man in his 40s with a heavy build and a goatee.

An Oklahoma City man police suspect of driving under the influence is also being accused of trying to bribe a witness. Roger Neal Moore, 55, was arrested just before 10 p.m. on Sept. 4, according to police. Richard Wellen, 60, told officers he was driving when he was hit by Moore at South Eastern Avenue and Interstate 240.

POLICE are still investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Brooklyn after they released a man they had in custody Thursday morning, police sources said.
