An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

1540. Tonica, Ill. May 10. 9-year-old boy injured when struck by a white car, possibly an older Buick in good condition. The unknown driver had stopped for a moment; the boy’s brother sped off on his dirt bike to a nearby farm house to call for help.

1541. Utica, NY. May 12. 81-year-old man injured when struck by an SUV which fled the scene.

Bond is set at $25,000 for a 20-year-old Bartlesville, Okla. man who was wearing black and white clown makeup when he was arrested for allegedly striking a pedestrian with a vehicle and dragging him 100 feet before fleeing the scene.

Charges are pending against a Northwood man in the fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a 7-year-old girl in Worth County on Tuesday, officials said.
Authorities identified Aaron Gunderson, 31, as the driver of a pickup truck that struck and killed Kadyn Halverson of rural Kensett when the girl was crossing the road to board a school bus shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday. Gunderson allegedly fled the scene and was later apprehended and questioned by authorities.

A Fort Myers Beach man accused of fleeing the scene of an accident and adding insult to injury by showing the victim an obscene gesture was arrested Monday after being followed by a witness.

And I quote (V)…

What stung, too, a tearful Manzo told Magistrate William J. McAtee, was that when she got home from the hospital, she was so disfigured by her wounds that her little boy described her as “a scary monster.”
Former Johnson & Wales University student Shawn Van Essen, 25, of Naples, Fla., in a plea bargain apparently approved by Manzo, pleaded no contest at a court hearing Tuesday to driving while intoxicated, with serious personal injury resulting, and leaving the scene of an auto accident, with serious personal injury resulting.

According to police, 3-year-old Jade Pierre was outside of her North Miami-Dade, Fla. home when a driver hit her, left the child in the middle of the road, then drove off. “Out of nowhere, we heard a pop sound, and when we all turned around, there was a car headed northbound down this road,” said Danielle Gilles, the victim’s aunt. Witnesses said the driver stopped for a second before fleeing the scene.

Investigators are asking for help from the public to identify a driver who left the scene of a crash late Friday near Temecula that killed a married couple.
California Highway Patrol officials said Monday that alcohol might have been a factor in the crash — officers found an open container in the hit-and-run driver’s car.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman who has cerebral palsy is afraid she will have trouble walking again after she became the victim of a hit-and-run.

A Tinley Park police officer who fled after a May 1 hit-and-run crash in Frankfort had an open glass of Guinness beer and his handgun was resting between his legs when New Lenox police stopped him, according to police reports.

And I quote (XI)…

A Superior Court courtroom was cleared Friday morning because of disruptive behavior during the arraignment of Christian Bordelies, the 19-year-old accused of driving the vehicle that killed a young boy on Thursday.
Members of the victim’s family started yelling before the court proceeding got underway, and judicial marshals tried to quell the disruption by telling everyone to calm down.
But the disruption intensified with calls for justice from the family, some of whom stood from their seats. One woman stood on a bench. The marshals cleared the courtroom.

Did the son of a New York City detective get special treatment after allegedly hitting a pedestrian and driving off? The victim told CBS 2’s John Slattery that he thinks the cop’s son got treated with kid gloves by the NYPD.
Felipe Diaz spent ten days hospitalized with a broken leg, and now gets around on a walker. He said the driver who hit him got a slap on the wrist because he’s the son of a detective.
“’I’m related to a higher-up, I can get away with it, so let me keep going,’” Diaz said.

WHITE PLAINS — As he lay in a coma in intensive care, dozens of Raul Rios’ friends came to visit him, so many that they had to line up to take turns.
“They told us to talk to him, and just about everyone who came told him that, when he’s better, we’ll go out and get some wings,” said Erica Goldberg, a close friend of the 23-year-old White Plains man who was seriously injured and almost died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver Dec. 19. “He just loves chicken wings.”

And I quote (XIV) …

The woman who was a passenger in a Cleveland hit and run accident at a McDonald’s back in April skipped out on her court hearing Thursday morning.
A warrant has now been issued for Cedrica Johnson’s arrest.
