An Anonymous $2,000 Donation Helped Polina Kadiyska’s Family In Their Time Of Need

Just got off the phone with Valeria Gospodinov of the Euro Market in Broomall. She’s the woman who spearheaded last week’s fundraising effort so South Philadelphia hit-and-run victim Polina Kadiyska’s family could afford to bring her body home to Bulgaria for burial.

If the aftermath of that horrific crime, an effort was launched to raise $7,200. Valeria said they ended up raising $11,375; that includes a $2K donation from someone who chose to remain anonymous. If you read this, anonymous donor, you did a wonderful thing.

Polina’s parents flew home on Friday to prepare for the funeral of an aspiring ballerina who followed her dreams from Bulgaria to Philadelphia, only to have them snuffed out by a drunk hit-and-run dirtbag. However, a funeral home is still preparing Polina’s body for the flight home. Valeria expects that to happen on Wednesday or Thursday.

“I’m proud of what we did,” Valeria said. “That is a lot of money to a Bulgarian family.”

It’s reaffirming to know so many people chipped in so that Polina can be properly memorialized and mourned.
